Red Mage. 100%. It seems to have some of the the smokin' sick style of of a Monk, with the graceful elegance of a Paladin.

You can count red mage out.
Final Fantasy XIVEdit
Main article: Red Mage (Final Fantasy XIV)
Red Mage was announced as a new job coming with the second expansion, Stormblood. They are a DPS class armed with rapiers and a magicked crystal medium. The job is described as "a hybrid ranged/melee style achieved via high-speed positioning."

I'd love to play a red mage. It was my favorite class in the original Final Fantasy and I've been wanting to play one since I discovered ARR. Don't know if I'll main one. My health limits me to jobs which are not too complex but that won't stop me from trying it out!

I thought I'd be maining Red Mage, assuming SAM would be a tank. SAM confirmed DPS, shares gear with my current main (MNK) and I have fond desires to level it (missed opportunity from XI days) I'm dead set on Samurai now.
Hope to master it, so used to playing MNK that a different playstyle is difficult to get a hang of.

I'm actually excited about both jobs (RDM winning out at the moment however). RDM will be relatively easy to gear since I've already got SMN and BLM to 60. Haven't done any MNK leveling for gear, so that will be a fresh undertaking.
I just hope they tweak the queues for DF regarding DPS. Sometimes over 30 minute wait times! Meanwhile, if I go WHM or AST, I can get in within maybe 3 minutes at the most the majority of the time. O_O

From what has been posted by most Youtubers, SAM will be using more timing than positionals (still rumors) I will definitely be using a SAM first, hopefully there will be still tanks and healers still playing from 50-60 when the expansion comes out.... don't want to deal with insane queues again.

Samurai. Only Samurai... forget Red Mage.

It's why I'll probably switch to a tank class for a while. Wait for the novelty to wear off. From what has been posted by most Youtubers, SAM will be using more timing than positionals (still rumors) I will definitely be using a SAM first, hopefully there will be still tanks and healers still playing from 50-60 when the expansion comes out.... don't want to deal with insane queues again.

Hmm... timed attacks. That used to be a huge JRPG staple back in the day. You would press a button at the right time (usually a visual cue) during a weaponskill to get a huge boost to damage. Super Mario RPG and Legend of Dragoon (maybe Mother 3?) comes to mind. So if Samurai feels slower, it's mainly because it's leaving weaponskills open for timed attacks. If you practice your timing you can actually maximize it's DPS potential. It's punishing if you can't master it, but it's not as painful as losing Blood of the Dragon or Greased Lightning mid rotation. From what has been posted by most Youtubers, SAM will be using more timing than positionals (still rumors) I will definitely be using a SAM first, hopefully there will be still tanks and healers still playing from 50-60 when the expansion comes out.... don't want to deal with insane queues again.
In that case, bring it on!
