Can I pre-order the digital copy of Stormblood from PSN and play without ARR/HW disc?

Hey guys! I've never really been on the forums and I'm not quite sure where to go with this...
I currently play on PS4 with a disc that has both A Realm Reborn and Heavensward on it. I have to have the disc in the system every time I play. It would be really nice to be able to play without the disc, and I was wondering if anyone knows if that's possible if I just get the digital copy of Stormblood.
Perhaps someone has had a similar issue when Heaensward came out?

It states you need before you purchase under the details in PSN store. As long as you have date installed, digital copy will play as a normal online game. you still need to have it registered on account though.

As far as I know, digital and disc do not mix, as PSN will not let you buy the expansion if you don't have the base game bought digitally. Pre-order works work little be different as they give a code to download game digitally during the early access period which can still be used after EA ends as long as you register the serial code with SE. But for most games a person not entitled a digital version of the game if they bought disc version. Only my XIV game is digital the rest of my games are on disc and PSN does not view me as owning the game and would have to buy it again if wanted to play digital versions of my disc games.

if you pre-order, you should have early access. which should allow you to download the game. this is how it worked for me on both the base game and expansion. i pre-ordered physical copies, and have access to digital downloads too.

also, it seems if you can download the base game, and have a registered expansion on your service account. the game launcher will just update your base game to the expansion.
