Are people in favour of resisting heavy while mounted?

Isn't this a bug? I find it very annoying; people casually escaping on mount was never possible before. Feature or bug? afaik it was never mentioned in any patch notes.

And someone told me it was possible to purify while mounted. As far as I'm concerned that is not true at all.

No, you can't purify while mounted. Fetter Ward (a DRG/MNK/NIN skill) is still active even if you mount up.

HOWEVER! The best way to deal with this is simply Aggressively attack anyone foolish enough to get on or ride a mount past you.

And if you (everyone in general, not you OP) have been getting on/riding mounts past enemy players, STOP DOING THAT. That's how you get Heavied and mobbed. I myself will shoot you just to apply the heavy debuff, even if I won't finish you off and let someone else do it.

Binding someone while mounted is also extremely effective. They cant cleanse it and you've effectively put them out of the fight for 10 ish seconds

I think the OP is asking if its supposed to be possible to be attacked on a mount in Frontlines and not get the heavy status (though the title is worded to ask if people don't want heavy?)

It's uncommon, but I do find hitting certain people (repeatedly, and not necessarily a job with Fetter Ward) does not give them a heavy debuff. I've just assumed it was because that person has temporary heavy resistance through ability/spell overuse. Anyone can confirm/deny?

Now that I think about it, some may have had fetter ward on, but, iirc, that wouldn't matter before the new patch (I may be wrong). If you were mounted, you'd get heavy no matter what. I can't think of a single instance before 3.5 where a mounted player would not get heavy if attacked. As of now, it happens very often. Players getting on mount, gets bombarded, still, no heavy. I personally am not in favour of this.

And a sidenote: Is the thread title really that deceiving? English is not my 1st language btw. To be clear: Yes, I am asking if people think it should be possible to resist heavy while mounted or not. In PVP only obviously.

I'd rather it be an originally short debuff stacking in both severity and duration (over which the severity should fade), but I think it's better to have it than not in mount-usable PvP modes.

In PvE... not sure. Same adjustment or remove outright, probably.

After a few hundred Frontlines matches (332 at the time of this posting), I can honestly say I'm really not a fan of this debuff and I'd rather see it removed entirely. If it HAS to be replaced with something, just have taking a certain amount of damage dismount you.

No, the heavy debuff is just fine as is.

Many of us who have been playing for a while learned, either by example or the hard way NOT to try to get on a mount or ride one near enemies.

Do you stand in an aoe when you know it's going to hit a certain area?
Do you look right at a giant eye mark for a look-away mechanic?
Do you continue moving during a mechanic that requires you to stand still?

No. And this is no different. If you mount up near enemies, or get caught riding, you get a heavy debuff. That's how it is, and how it's always been. You don't dumb down the rules for convenience; you learn them for a better experience.

Personally I have the opposite impression, it's one of the few good design choices in XIV's pvp. The mobility that a mount offers is a huge advantage in large maps like frontlines, and it's good that there's a proportionate amount of risk to using it carelessly when enemies are around. If you're harassing someone's base or you get outmaneuvered and cut off, your opponents should be rewarded for making good positional choices.

It also prevents people from running away after engaging people in a fight. Once you've dismounted to engage someone, you know you won't be able to easily mount and escape as you'll be heavied while your target's allies overtake you on their mounts. It's a good thing that adds tension and forces you to pick your fights very carefully when behind enemy lines.
