Shogun Tank Request Thoughts

Samurai in XIV is a DPS. It's not a tank and will never be a tank b/c if it is a tank then the DRK players that wanted it a DPS would then have a good case for their being a DRK DPS class. If you wanted SAM a tank I'm sorry but it's not, in this game it's going to be a DPS like it was in XI. Look towards the next expansion to see what new Tank job we'll get as it seems it'll be a healer and tank in the next expansion to keep the balance going.

Similerly, if people want a Dark Knight type job as a DPS, it is also possible. But it need to be under a new name, use a diffrent weapon, but still use dark powers. Either of which can be implemened in diffrent ways that we can't think of, since we are not trained to create game content.

I undertand it is easier to give up and not do anything, but if nothing is done or attempted, how would devs know?

tbh drk and war do more dps than most dps anyway. so might aswell

Then you wouldn't likely enjoy "Shogun" either, because it would be the same job with maybe a slightly different skin.

and you know I wont how? just cuz they would both have a parry trait? cuz that's the only argument you can use

Because they would essentially be the same job. Unless they had the Shogun use a War Fan or something exotic.

After sticking to "PLD" for two years now and being to invested into tanking once i found out it was pretty much selftorture to play it, I was waiting for a a different tank. Considering I absolutly despise both "WAR" and "DRK" (maybe because i ran into much that where either really bad, had to rub their superiority into my face or both) i was secretly hoping for a Shogun style tank.

I for one doubt that whatever rework "PLD" will get will make me want to play it even one day longer after "STORMBLOOD" launch. They would have to give us two swords to wield in "Sword Oath", an actual Limit Break worth looking at and actually make us do damage aswell as overall make us usefull in any way to keep me tanking anymore as once i stop doing so i doubt i will ever return to it unless they add a tank that would spike my interest enough (like Shogun would).

To all those saying that a Shogun tank would just be like "DRK" please use your imagination a bit more. There are so may ways to make it unique and different from any other job (even Samurai) that there is hardly a reason to not actually cater to a fraction of the playerbase outside of "Savage" and "Feast" for once.

I seriously doubt they will do another Job with such similarities to SAM. I expect whatever the next 2 Jobs we get in 5.0 will not be Far East themed either and probably more closely tied to wherever we go next.
