I'm still on the fence about this being advertised. While you certainly can play and level every job, you're only allowed to keep 1-2 in relevant gear every few months. Sort of a half truth of sorts.
i did cutting edge progression with a whm and a pld, in my still running static, i joined with trash ivl/bis dps and totaly clueless of this kind of content, with no problems
With new AF sets it might be even tougher since you wont have shared gear across different Jobs. If your a healer and you want to be able to alternate between WHM heal throughput and SCH heals you wont likely have time to gear a dps or tank as well.
I'm sorry, but you can dispute it all you want, the /fact/ of the matter remains, those jobs are undesired and need to be reworked if they're to stand out on their own and be properly viable with unique identities without inhibiting Day 1 Progression. Data doesn't lie, Miss Aerish, this isn't a matter of My or Your opinion, it's the consensus of hard statistics compiled over Heavenward's life cycle.

Extreme Primals? No, nobody deserves to be kicked, that content isn't catered to be gating or progressive, it's midcore and relatively easy to learn and clear. But Savage? You get to decide what composition you want, do you want the optimal group that will each play off each other's strengths? Or do you want people to play what they like at the cost of efficiency? Savage raiding is /not/ like other content in this game, you /can/ clear it with any comp, sure, but it doesn't change the fact that if you're serious about getting to the finish line as quickly, cleanly and efficiently as possible, then you'll realise that yes, some jobs are just not as good as others and are a hindrance more than a benefit. It's not a reality I like, I never believed in forcing someone to play a job that they don't enjoy, but some groups expect that, these are the groups that clear Within the first few weeks. So if you don't agree with how they do things, then that's fine, turn away from these groups, but it still doesn't change the /facts or data/, don't forget that. There's a reason why Min/Max exists in these types of games, there's no escaping it.
I too think that the changes will be ideal. The very problem with both roles is that they were fine until competition was added in 3.0. And the only answer or idea the community had was to make a new tank that competed with warrior, or a healer that knocked scholar off its pedestal. The competition isnt always bad, but why would you want new jobs who are just that - to replace a current job for the sake of making unnecessary competition{looking at you AST} I hope they overhaul a little bit and open a big blueprint for being able to make a very original healer and tank in the future, that will simply synergize with any in its role instead of compete for slots in raids
That being said, I am almost positive the next 2 jobs will be tank and healer, and dps will get the shaft in 5.0
However hurt you guys may feel, I think they did take a long look at some of the ideas threads, esp with RDM basic design, and encourage us to figure out what kind of enjoyable/different type of healer or tank we'd like to see, and hopefully theyll listen

Yes for fast clean competition this might be a huge problem, even tho i don't believe the majority complaining evryday is in the competition with world's first cleaning savage.
From what i read, it gives me the impression they can never play those jobs outside of Fate or roulette.
No, every job is playable, none of them are inherently broken or unplayable by any means, it's just in an MMO environment, it's inevitable that some jobs will be better than others, hence the request to bring PLD/WHM/MNK up to speed, or at least give them something to compete with the other jobs in their roles.
Considering the Teaser (and Trailer by extension), I'm thinking MNK might get some love during the expansion as it's getting portrayed as a central thing, kind of what DRG was to HW... Also, I'm personally somewhat happy they didn't include a new Tank or Healer as they probably didn't figure out what they could do in terms of mechanics that PLD/DRK and WAR don't do for tanks or WHM and SCH do for healers... I don't think we need what would essentially be a reskin of an existing job.
But also, yea, gearing multiple jobs at once isn't really possible because of weekly limits to loot, but without those weekly limits the newest content would be old in a week... End-game in MMOs is very finicky.
