Lore Question: Are Aetherytes Everywhere in Hydaelyn?

This is a question for the lore team.

I can't find where it was mentioned (And with the reimage of the game in A Realm Reborn it could have been retconned.) but back in version 1.x of Final Fantasy XIV's lifetime I think it was mentioned that things like crystals and aetherial travel were exclusive to Eorzea. This, and the threat of the Primals which was why Garlemald was repelled at the Battle of Silvertear Falls in the beginning. One of the reasons Garlemald wanted Eorzea was for the concentrated sources of aether in the realm. However with Heavensward we have seen an introduction to aetherytes in different places including ancient places no man has visited in centuries. Now it's fair to believe maybe the Allagans first utilized this technology. This is further supported by the fact if I remember there was an NPC in Ul'dah by the aetheryte pre-Calamity who commented about it.

Nobody knew where the aetherytes came from or how they worked thus couldn't repair them if they ever broke. I'm going to guess after the Calamity somebody DID figure it out likely after Allagan relics started to show up more frequently. However with Stormblood now revealing that we will be traveling to Othard which is all the way on the opposite side of Garlean territory it occured to me if aetherytes are all over Hydaelyn. So bearers of all knowledge and lore, do aetherytes exist everywhere or only in Eorzea?

I believe we saw some in othard, in the new areas. but i doubt there will be any on ilsabard, as the garleans cannot use aether.

I believe you're right, it appears there are. Well that answers my question I suppose somewhat.

I believe an npc comments on the making of aetherites somewhere. It is also entirely possible that the aetherites are imported from Eorzea, but I'm not so sure. According to Domans, they have beings similar to primals. If that's true, then they've got to have aether to power them. Perhaps Eorzea simply has highest aether concentrations.

Some of the modern Aetherytes in the city-states were created by Sharlayans:
The aetherytes currently found in each of the city-states were reconstructed following the Calamity by Sharlayan engineers. These engineers were the only ones who possessed the skill and knowledge necessary to do so, and so they were richly compensated for their services.
I wonder if the Sharlayans make aetherytes for the nations outside of Eorzea?

There needs to be concentrations of aether for a aetheryte to be made
Aetherytes cannot be constructed just anywhere; rather, they can only be constructed in locations rich with aether, such as the intersections of aetherial currents. Like an oasis in a desert, these locations are often teeming with life. Settlements are commonly established near them, and so it can be reasonably assumed that most villages and cities are ideal locations for aetherytes.
It's possible that aetheryte technology might have even predated the Allagans
The Allagans possessed aetheryte technologies as well. However, it is unknown whether they developed their methods independently or if they expanded upon those of older civilizations.
