there are 3 Kurai's on my server that i know of. getting rid of surnames would be a nightmare. my name translated means Dark Fox
I know the current state of the game perfectly. I'm just not delusional enough to believe that the changes made so far have been that drastic. Most of them are actually rather minor changes.
The changes have helped the game, sure, but they haven't completely transformed it.
I highly doubt you've played every MMORPG ever made for the first 5 months.
[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] Review scores are HUGE for any video game. They have an enormous impact on sales numbers, which are critical to the continual success of the title. Also, any game, even an MMO, can be judged in an hour's playtime or less.
You're twisting my words. I never said ALL options are always good. Sometimes certain options might not fit within the context of the game. That does not contradict what I said earlier.
Funny, I don't seem to have any trouble remembering all the different names of the people on my Xbox Live friends list, despite the fact that some people on there have two part names, and some don't. Heck, even on this forum some people are using single names while others are using compound names, yet it doesn't seem to be causing any trouble for anyone. I don't see why you think it would be any different in-game.

I actually loved that the fact that we get to choose both a first- and surname. With it, i could come up with a name that could be considered a name, not a random word or a variation of a name someone else already picked. Also, if i were to create more then one character, i could even create my own "family" by using the same surname and writing a matching biography.
But, that's my personal opnion. It's true that now every one can come up with an original name, but think of the people who thought of character names like "Now Loading". When i saw that, i laughed myself silly. Which is good, because you should be having fun while playing a game. Don't you agree? (^_^ )
Credit goes to Niqo'te for her fabulous art in the "Nique's happy fun time!"-thread and Nix/Capa for the Caitlyn drawing to the right. \(^_^ )/
Give her your support by liking their art!
I could care less![]()

I agree that surnames definitely have their upsides and their advantages, and I think it was a good idea to include them. I just think they should have been optional, rather than mandatory.

Actually I played every major MMORPG that gets released on the market, and many minor, and keep myself informed, for work reasons, about the state of basically every one of them (not to mention basically every single player game), So yeah.I highly doubt you've played every MMORPG ever made for the first 5 months.
There have been an enormous number of changes, and many of them quite major.
The fact that they can have an huge impact on sales doesn't make them anywhere indicating of a game's quality.Okay, now you're just being an idiot. Review scores are HUGE for any video game. The fact that you say that a MMO can be judged in a hour or less shows how little you know about reviewing a game. You cannot review something until you see all the options offered, and there's no MMORPG that gives a player all the options in the first view levels.
It's a basic concept of journalistic integrity. You don't write about what you didn't try first hand.
"options ALWAYS good" = "all options are good".You're twisting my words. I never said ALL options are always good. Sometimes certain options might not fit within the context of the game. That does not contradict what I said earlier.
You seem to equate your standpoint with everyone's, or even the average. Doesn't work like that.Funny, I don't seem to have any trouble remembering all the different names of the people on my Xbox Live friends list
MMORPG systems and rules need to be as foolproof as possible, and actually one of the major flaws of FFXIV is that it's not foolproof enough.
"to fire" as an abslute term. As such it cannot be used loosely. The verb you're looking for is "to demote".Actually no, it can still have multiple meanings even in that context. It depends on how strictly or loosely you use the word.
Interesting. You may want to be made aware that the by the book definition of troll is "going to a forum dedicated to a certain subject only to bash that subject and stir controversy". Looking at the posting history of the OP, he fits that definition perfectly. On the other hand, since I enjoy this game and express it, i don't fit it by the very definition itself.Sorry, but the only troll I see here is you.
Unfortunately for you, disagreeing with you and proving your points wrong doesn't equate to being a troll.
