Removal of Surnames

No need to attack the people that don't want surnames. I personally don't care about surnames, but I hate having to type in a surname to /tell someone. Its not laziness, its just awkward(sp?). You want surnames for originality, cool, but freaking out on people that don't want them or don't want to have to type in ridiculous spelled last names isn't cool.

Also, I don't see why it's awkward. I mean, /tell Big Boobs is as awkward as /tell Bigboobs. Can you explain a little more?

Sure, /tell joe uniformtiyudsutos would be a lot better if it was just /tell joe. Make first names have to be unique but not surnames. Still have charcter uniqueness with surnames but its not an integral part of the games mechanics

No. It's the difference between sending a tell to Renshi and to Renshi Hyatsuki.

Imagine this scenario:
Renshi Hyatsuki > /sh Tele to LL $25k.
Now i've gotta type your horrible name just to send you a tell... And your name isn't even that bad considering how there are many people with longer names and stranger spellings.


Type these two lines and tell me which one is easier:
/tell renshi yo wat up man.
/tell renshi hyatsuki yo wat up man.

Remember that I could have named myself Renshihyatsuki if the surname was integrant part of the name, but you have really got the point.

well if surnames ar peoblems in sending tells, than SE needs to get good auto filling sytem ( you type part name, press tab, and it gives you list. Hell it works in eve with single server, and about milion characters. The solution ' i find it annoying remove surnames " is similar to "ooh i broke my finger, gotta chop my hand off'

The awkwardness comes from having to type in an entire name. I never said get rid of surnames, just make it so its not so important to communication mechanics

Just keep your opinion to yourself and move on. Who cares if people want/don't want surnames, I doubt they are going to change it. Could you imagine the drama of people complaining AFTER they have to change their names for "WTF I WANTED THAT NAME! #rage" and the next thread of "return surnames please!" and most of you who hate surnames will be like "Yeah, now everybody has my name in some variation qq". +1 for BalgianRolf exaclty why surenames suck. What if the game get more popular and then say 400 people want the name cloud. Then you would type is like /sea all cloud and have look threw a long list of peopel to find the one cloud your looking for. Even with the Xxx_____xxX system the fact is i can find who i want easier even with /tell is someone has 1 name becouse instead of 400 people named cloud now only one can have it thus making /tells still faster. So is it easier to look threw a bunch of people with the same name or just find 1 person with the name and /tell them what easier?
