Removal of Surnames

It's like sitting down with your friend Tom Hanks for a sandwich and saying, "Hey Tom Hanks! What's your favorite sandwich meat, Tom Hanks?"

Or meeting some hot babe at the club. When she asks, "Hey there hot-stuff! What's your name?" To which you reply, "Aldroania Wasakutsumakashima".

Now that's just silly. There's a reason games that are well more populated than FFXIV don't use surnames.

If anything, surnames should be optional, and not required.

Surnames are alright. You really can't remove a feature because people picked names that didn't exactly fit in with the game.

Belgian. This thread seriously has to go. The thing you need to point out as a problem is the search functions. If they sorted those functions out you'd never have a problem with someone's name as long as you knew at least some of it.

Who cares if people have retarded names? It isn't any different than real life. I would like to be able to /tell someone by their first name or something to make it easier. But, I don't think they should take away surnames. There is a way to work around the surname issue.
