Removal of Surnames

I'm in favor of a system without surnames.

I'm in favor of a system that is unfair to people who are uncreative and pick some of the dumbest sounding names from other FF titles, various rpgs, and anime.

What if you heard of a name in an anime, looked up its meaning and liked what it meant?

I had a character named kekkaishi. I learned it from an anime and I liked what it meant and fit my mithran rdm.
Kekkaishi translates into barrier master. And rdm has alot of self buffers.

honestly why do you guys play mmo and feel the need to nitpick what ppl use as names. I like how silly ppl names can be. Or if they use them off anime. I met friends who like the same stuff I did cuz I saw their name was from an anime I like.

I think the system should be unfair to those who nitpick.

I have to agree with you on this, in FFXI I used a name from a novel I love. There were some people who caught the reference and knew of the book (and of course liked it too) and I made new friends because of that common connection.

I am in favor of multiple names that mean the same thing.

I am strongly against "meanings" being the only reason to pick a name, and should be discouraged by any means possible.

I am strongly against most anime and the flintstones.

It would be more amusing if you would talk in third person instead of "I am" in every thread.

That is... The absolute best idea I've heard on this forum yet. I'm telling you, out of the thousands of stupid ideas everyone at one point or another on this forum have suggested or even thought of, yours is outstanding! I love it!

Nope. Not sarcasm. I seriously thought it was a good idea. I might switch it up later, but for now, I'm moving forward with "I am". Thank you tho.

The only real downside of the surnames is that the coding used when an NPC interacts with you has the NPC recite your complete name every time. At least based off what I've seen so far. Would probably be better if NPCs were programmed to use only your first name. Either is still echelons above the NPC just saying "adventurer" when referring to you.

Actually a lot of NPC are calling you only by your first name, at least in the storyline quests.
I guess it depends on how you're related to the NPC, wich is quite good.
