Removal of Surnames

I think surnames should be available as an option, but I dislike the fact that we're all forced to use them.

Back before release, Tanaka said surnames were implemented to ensure players can always get the name they want. Well guess what, SE? The name I want is only ONE name! Forcing me to use two names takes away my freedom to use the name I truly want.

I understand some people might run into issues if the name they want is already taken, and so surnames should be available as an optional choice for them, but for the rest of us they're just unnecessary and obtrusive.

I wasn't going to troll the atmosphere of the game and use a name that actually sounded cool. Unfortunately, that is not possible when surnames are required; thus... Belgian Rofl

I find first and last names unique and i have no trouble with it whatsoever

Why are they stupid? Nearly every culture in the world uses them, for the very same reasons it's nice to have them here.

That's a problem with the player, not the naming system. Without surnames, that person's name would have probably been "asdlkjafjkdsljadsfjkadsfkladsfklajsdf", which I don't really think is an improvement.
