I wont say its simply laziness. Tanking is truly intimidating for a lot of people.
Its not that I don't like tanking because I'm lazy.
I don't like tanking because I'd rather not be the sole reason we fail at any given dungeon or trial.
Playing a tank comes with the expectation you will be leading. Not everyone wants that, and its not something easy to fix.

I can't go for this cheap throwaway answer, particularly when it comes from a tank. Speaking for myself, I do all I can to put out as much damage as needed on whichever DPS job I choose. The DPS role has the same amount of pressure and responsibility as Tank & Healer, contrary to what's being sold in this forum or others.
I will never tank again because there is to much pressure. Tanked one dungeon in my first MMO and it didn't go good. Changed to heeler and I never looked back. I like it a lot better.

I can't recall an MMO I've ever played where Tanks match DPS in numbers. It's a personal player fantasy, and I think that the concept of tanks + leadership doesn't fill that for many people. It's not a "fix" in my opinion, more or less just a fact of life when it comes to MMO's seeing as like i've said that tanks always seem to be the fewest in numbers no matter how much developers try to push players to them.

Myself I don't like tanking (or melee for that matter) because I'm usually right next to the big bad and the viewpoint overwhelms me. As for healing I like the idea of healing, I'm drawn to make healers but I can't keep my eye on the health bars. I'm inevitably drawn to the action that's happening on the screen and everyone's dead. This was proven again the other night in potd when I was super proud everyone survived the surprise mimic and then my sister asked for a res.![]()

A lot of people seem to be forgetting... DRK did drastically shorten leveling queues for a good while when it came out. I don't expect it to change much endgame but well, have fun with those really, really long leveling queues for while after the expac release... really hope you like FATEs.
(And, yes, there are plenty that only play DRK because they don't like the other tank jobs. So it does bring in new people long term...)

Unfortunately, you either need a pocket tank/healer or a thick skin. People will get nasty to newbie tanks or healers who aren't willing to go at the pace they prefer. For a lot of people, it's incredibly intimidating because they're afraid to fail. It's easy to say "just brush it off. We've all caused a wipe or two at some point," but not everyone shrugs off being told they're an idiot, especially when they're still learning. That being said, I still echo the sentiment. It's the only way to get passed tank anxiety.

What're they gonna do about it? Kick the supposedly rare healer/tank? If anything, thats the time to level a tank or healer BECAUSE people can't get pissed at you because they don't wanna get kicked into a long queue.

Ok, then how bout when I'm on DRG? MNK? BRD? Can I still say 90% of dps are lazy and press 1 2 3?I can't go for this cheap throwaway answer, particularly when it comes from a tank. Speaking for myself, I do all I can to put out as much damage as needed on whichever DPS job I choose. The DPS role has the same amount of pressure and responsibility as Tank & Healer, contrary to what's being sold in this forum or others.
I've seen people do less DPS than their auto attack is capable of....
I tank because Iam the only one in my group of friends who is 100% comfortable doing it, yet that somehow invalidates my opinion on how poor DPS gets in DF?
