All these complaints about tanks pulling too little or healers not dpsing seem kind of weird to me. I have yet to see them. I have ran quite a few dungeons without dpsing because I felt it was too risky with the party I was in. I have also played on 2 data servers. Only once have I been asked by someone to contribute more DPS, but when I explained I was having some latency issues and didn't want to let the tank die they were fine with it and understood. Even when I level tanks, I have been given advice, not complaints. Maybe I have been lucky, but I really feel like people are either exaggerating the problem or taking things the wrong way.

That being said, I think they should really consider changing regular dungeons to be 3 dps, 1 tank, 1 healer and increase their difficulty to match. They designed this game to have 3 times the dps as it has healers or tanks and they should have the dungeons reflect that to help ease the queue times for the people who main dps classes.

Sorry, not gonna take lip from a DPS about playstyle when there hasn't been a wipe or an issue in some below LVL 50 leveling roulette.

If it had been Sam as tank it would have. People have been wanting that class like they want Christmas.

As it is now have fun with your 1.5 hour long DPS queues.

This. I am drawn to tanks. Always have been, always will be. What am I now? A Scholar & Bard. I want to tank so bad but I've tried tanking before (stopped PLD at 50, DRK only got to 60 due to potd) and got so nervous at everything my hands shake and I can't do it. I've seen and been the result of people yelling at the tank for the smallest bit of anything that happens. I don't know what they can do about it honestly but something needs to be done.

do what I just did , when you wana do content make learning parties , I did thordan extreme for the first time last night and I screwed up just cause I have like first time jitters to any content. And I like to main tank content I know but I ended up main tankin this so I had to learn fast and we cleared it. Its honestly more people willng to get in a learning party than I predicted and I think its because of the very rudeness you speak of that learning party just means you are ok to mess up and learn so If you wana tank Id try that.

Dunno what's up with the OP's 3.0 DF version. I very rarely see MCH, though I'm leveling it up as we speak because I'm not fond of the melee jobs I've yet to level up.

I main heals but only tank if I absolutely have to (meaning a FC mate or friend has to be stuck in a dungeon because the tank left). I'm not comfortable with tanking because I don't want to be the one responsible for a wipe or not gather enough hate. With healers and DPS it's more of a diffusion of responsibility as to who caused a wipe. I don't have friends to play with and haven't been able to find the right FC for me so saying "Just go with friends or FC members or randoms to be more comfortable" will not work on me.

    .
I found the exact opposite I went from heals to tanking, I found I hate to say it I caused more wipes healing than tanking are at least died more myself than tanking. And when I got to large pulls in dungeons having so many tanks not using a single cool down and me not be able to heal them just made me take a break I know I can do it but healing seems to be imo the hardest thing in the game. Especially in trails , they are always the ones to get the debuff always the ones to get targeted and they are the squishiest job in the game.

Maybe the tuning for healing will lower this disconnect. Most other games have more then enough incoming damage dpsing healers isn't a thing.

Also something the OP miss with his picture. The game tries to go dps melee+range. I leveled bard and blm during ninja craze. Ques were instant since range bypasses two melee in que. The more you know

I'm with you there. Back when I kept my tanks fairly geared up, I didn't mind tanking leveling dungeons, trials, and even raids. It's endgame dungeons/ex roulette/DF mentality that turned me off to it. I don't like big pulls. At least not pulling a whole third of a dungeon. 1 or 2 packs of mobs? No biggie, I can control and manage that. However if you don't pull everything, people get pretty antsy (sorry, I'm not in a hurry and I don't "just wanna get it over with". Don't mistake that for wanting to drag it out either). So I figured the easiest way to solve that little problem is not tank. I like attacking or healing and excel at those too. I do my part, somebody (hopefully) does theirs, everyone wins.

It's not me wanting to avoid the responsibility of tanking, it's actually quite the opposite. If I'm tanking, it's my job to make sure they're on me, not you. And I can handle that much better in controlled pulls rather than a huge mess of things I'd be too busy simply spamming aggro tools on rather than helping dps. That's just me though. Other players can handle it and that's good for them.

To the bigger point in all this: The queues may imbalance for a while, but things will definitely stabilize. Not everyone's going to rush for the new jobs. I'll be leveling them, yes. . . in my spare time. I plan to stick with my current mains of MCH and WHM (so there you go, a healer in queue), and level the new jobs while enjoying my time playing. We'll all get to 70 and we'll be there for a while. So no need to rush or panic.

Then again, I enjoyed PvP before Garo, so I've got patience like crazy.

I don't mean to pick on you, but this post is pretty bitter.

Do you remember the start of Heavensward, when tanks had long queues and DPS got instant ones? People are going to want to play any new job they find appealing (which is why I leveled MCH first before the other 2 new jobs then), and they're going to play a new job purely because it's something new. So those "1.5 hour long queues" aren't an exclusive DPS privilege.
