We're not going to Doma itself though, are we?
As far as i understood we're just going to pass through or by Othard to get to Hingashi which is past Othard, since Doma is occupied by the Garlean empire, right?

2 of the new regions (possibly 3 depending on which side of the Ruby Sea we have access to) announced are part of Othard. Yanxia, which is where Doma is and the Azim Steppe. The only place that they've announced us heading to on Hingashi is Kugane (and potentially Shirugane).

Poor Hellsguard. We get within spitting distance of their homeland and rather than visit, cross the ocean to check out the Au Ra Homeland:P
If they keep this up we may hit Garlemald in 5.0 for a Alliance vs Garlemald War expansion.I can't believe it too, when it was announced in the live stream i got so excited, i thought it would be another couple expansions before we got to Othard and at least another expansion till we left Eorzea. Know i can get Othard style gear for my Au Ra for RP which fits her backstory perfectly

It does seem likely that 5.0 will be going to Ilsabard and eventually taking down the Garleans in their home turf.
Eorzea is united and stronger than it was. With Ishgard back in the Alliance, advancement in technology and airships and potentially some dragons as allies. Despite this, they might still lose vs Garlemald. But if Garlemald have to fight a war on Eorzea and Doma/Other? I imagine it'll be very difficult a war on 2 different continents.
Not only that, but Garlemald is not as united as it once since there was the War of Succession between Varis and Uncle and his faction

During 4.0 we find out that the alliance of Eorzea is not strong enough to liberate Ala Migho. Yugiri suggest to ask her people in Doma for help. 4.1-4.5 will play in Doma, while the true liberation of Ala Migho will happen in 5.0

I think people are overlooking that 'taking down Garlemald' isn't practical. They control most of Ilsabard and have for most of the last 40 years. Much of that territory would be fully intergraded into the empire now. Only the elderly would remember a time before Garlean rule. If we somehow caused the empire of Garlemald to collapse there would be a massive power vacuum and the entire continent would be thrown into chaos.
I think we will be going into Garlemald in 5.0 but ironically we will be attempting to keep what is left of the empire from collapsing by siding with a more moderate faction within Garlemald and trying to help them take the throne. After all if we just left Ilsabard to burn it would be like handing the Ascians prime ground to sow calamities, particularly with all the Garlean tech lying around. There is no way in hell the Eorzean alliance could occupy Ilsabard. Hell, we have friends like Biggs and Wedge who have families living in those territories.
Honetly it would be impossible to defeat the entire Garlean Empire and even if we did there would be huge consequences due to that power vaccuum they left if removed completely from the world.
At best we are most likely going to join a Garlean Faction that seeks to reform Garlemald and to prevent it from repeating the mistake the Allagan Empire did.
We also see that the Garlean Empire is not all Pure Muhahaha Evil but shade of different colors. Even with in their society they still face the same social issues as the other cities from internal political conflicts for position of power to even belief on how to handle treatment of other people from different cultures.

I'm trying to come up with a feasible scenario to explain how the player character ends up on the other side of the known world. Considering that it's somewhat implied that Yugiri's arrival to Eorzea was a rather difficult journey, I'm not entirely sure the player character is going all the way over there willingly seemingly out of nowhere.
Like, I think there's a possibility that we end up in a scenario where the Garleans actually capture us (which would lead to a plot point where someone close to the player character wonders why Hydaleyn wouldn't intervene in any way - likely because the Ascians aren't involved, like how she didn't really do anything to stop the massacre at the Waking Sands and the Ul'dah feast, even if a possessed Thancred was responsible for the former and that she MIGHT have wanted the latter to happen anyway because of her plans for Minfillia). But instead of outright executing us, the Garleans decide we're way too useful to be killed, and they want to try converting us since we've only ever seen things from the side of the Eorzea Alliance. They ship us off to Othard to see for ourselves how the Garleans have improved the quality of life of the people over there - only to be freed by rebels that know Yugiri soon after arrival, with her arriving later (due to hearing about the WoL being in Othard through that eagle seen in the cinematic, assuming it's used to pass messages).
