Welp there it is, samurai class in all its glory, june cant come fast enough =D
Judging from the quick video, it seems like the sam class will be a hybrid "charge" class, mix of melee attack with charge/cast time melee attack, cant wait!!!

I think Mr. Happy already made a small list of what they said from the livestream.
If I recall he said they will build up charges (much like warriors do for their stuff) and then spend those charges on big attacks with generally longer animations or wind-ups. So think of it like, finisher combos with much more painful and flashy numbers I guess. That said, they will MAYBE be joining dragoons on the floor as players will try to use those skills only to find themselves stuck in an AoE after clicking it. Still cool idea though. Totally will main that class. Only question is, do I main it immediately at launch and lvl it up or get all the way to the end of the expansion first and then level it up? Decisions decisions...
Also, while I'm honestly shocked they are using monk gear instead of dragoon mail gear, I love the edo period style of no/little armor and more speed/power. At least I think it's edo period... I'm not Japanese, I just fool myself to thinking I think I know stuff.
I dont think drg gear will fit to their nature i mean stereotypical of samurai is always traveling light with common clothes, not spiky or heavy armor (though iam think there will be one with shogun warlord like armor)
As for skill i really hope they will give something unique to sam class because those "charge and spend" skill seems to apply for RDM too, i can only hope yoshi not going to take easy step and make something like brd/mch again (similar class similar style similar gameplay)
Last i heard is once you get it, it start immediately at level 50, as for the requirement iam not sure but considering the class share armor with monk, probably something like monk at level xx to open it and iam sure it will just like HW class, you can get it without advancing the MSQ (at least until certain part i think)do I main it immediately at launch and lvl it up or get all the way to the end of the expansion first and then level it up?

The requirement is having completed the Praetorium. So level 50, end of the 2.0 story, SAM it up. (or RDM it up).Last i heard is once you get it, it start immediately at level 50, as for the requirement iam not sure but considering the class share armor with monk, probably something like monk at level xx to open it and iam sure it will just like HW class, you can get it without advancing the MSQ (at least until certain part i think)
Um, no. Samurai who went to battle always donned full body armor. Although not the kind we know in the west. The samurai you're referring to are those who are on RnR and happened to be strolling in town with a katana in their obi. Which was one of the samurai privileges to wield a katana in a town
yeah I am actually not a fan of this aesthetic they chose for samurai, but im gonna guess that they want to keep the shogun look for a tank probably later on, doesnt really make sense that theyd go into dungeons almost naked, when they did wear armor in battle timesUm, no. as far as monk gear goes, im thinking itll be alot like how nin was and share gear till 60. But then again, a lot of monk garb doesnt really seem to fit samurai. Theres even a ninja set from CT the fuma set that would just look very odd on a samurai...

Well, I can sort of understand why they went for this look. Samurai served a master till their death - Normally anyway. When said samurai lose favor or privileges of their master, they become "masterless" or ronins. Which were wandering samurai with no master and this does fit a samurai with adventuring in mind. These wandering samurai were more likely to be found wearing the more traditional Japanese clothing as displayed in the trailer.yeah I am actually not a fan of this aesthetic they chose for samurai, but im gonna guess that they want to keep the shogun look for a tank probably later on, doesnt really make sense that theyd go into dungeons almost naked, when they did wear armor in battle times

Samurai will be using monk gear
Well there's that mystery solved! (Not like it was obvious) Now the question, where would we unlock it? New area or old? Mor Dhona would actually be a nice little starting point for the new class since it's assumed it starts at 50 and ARR endgame hub took place there. One of those unused rooms could be perfect for it. NIN makes good use of that house near Wineport. Going to max out my Lore and Scripture and get all the 50 poetic stuff in preperation for SAM now, and since my main is MNK this makes me very happy.
Also curious how it will play, will it play like MNK with positionals or more like DRG where you have to master a specific rotation otherwise your DPS suffers if you mess up. I hope they try a new style, maybe they combined the playstyles of NIN (Mudras) and WAR to make this class.
I just really want they make Samurai armors i love the way the Samurai looks in FFXI
