I have my doubts about it being advice, and not aggressively berating them to get better. When these reports happen they don't just ban the other reportee without checking. They check the log and most likely you and these people were in the wrong or went too far. They check that log they see both sides of the conversation and if the guy who reported really did deserve it as you say, the GM would take no action giving an excuse or he'd be banned too.

Practice common tact and treating others as you wish to be treated and you and the others wouldn't have these issues. Also if you find it happening a lot to you you're the common factor not the people reporting you, meaning it is probably you that's the issue.
