Samurai Melee DPS thoughts

PotD isn't a solution when you must do dungeons/trials in the MSQ. Even the sprouts trying to do Sastasha for the first time will be effected. The leveling roulette is suppose to pick those players up, but queue time is going get really long for the DPS. Further, PotD might not even give exp after 60 because SE doesn't want players to do old content over the new Stormblood content.

This isn't even an issue. Players that main a Tank or a Healer usually main those classes because they enjoy tanking, or healing. They aren't suddenly going to hate tanking and vow to never play anything but SAM or RDM ever again. They will switch over and try it out, maybe even cap it. But eventually, they're going to shift back to the role that they enjoy the most. Everything will even back out in time.

I don't believe in that. That what people say to convince themselves. But I can assure you I already know a lot of people in the game desiring to switch from their main tanks or healer to Samurai.

I'm very worried about queues with 2 DPS coming in the expansion. I remember ROG/NIN being quite messy and bloating queues, and I'm sure this will have a similar effect. PotD will help with some of that bloat, but I still think it'll be an issue. Though, I guess this does explain why they finally fixed the issue of not being able to queue with your chocobo out.

No that's what happened with HW and what will happen with SB.

And people who "desire" to switch are the same people who want to "switch because it's new" people, not people who are going to main anything.

You're right. But is this still the case now? Do we still have hundreds of ninja's clogging the queues? It eventually evened out, and this will be the same. It may take a little more time, but eventually a majority of the tanks will go back to being tanks, and the same for healers. Just like what happened when Ninja was released.

They're probably gonna nerf PoTD for the new expansion. wll they let you leveling outside new areas ?

well samurai go to be slashing, and RDM have mele sword attacks too, meaby slashing too but looks like more pearcing, excep the made SAM have some kind off slashing buff that make storm eye dont be mandatory i see changes at least in that area, or make every one have a slashing debuff.

lets see what they do, bcs having WAR buffing the dps of 4-5 party members is pretty heavy.

if sam has slashing debuff, people are still gonna prefer the war to do the debuff.... unless the slashing debuff from sam comes from the required dps combo and doesn't lower their dps like nin's does....

They already confirmed a new PotD will be implemented for Stormblood. We just don't know yet whether it'll release with the expansion. As for MSQ dungeons, HW didn't have that many. Putting up with the occasional delay won't be that much of a hurdle.

Well... there should be a small window for those that currently main dps to avoid the Duty finder crash, maybe a day or 2 before the full force of samurai and red mages hit lv60+. So yeah, if you have a main dps just go through as much of the Stormblood story till the dps wave catches up I suppose... >.<

I hope whatever improvements they make to tanks and healers are gonna be worth it or else this is going to be a sh***y expansion for them. I mean, at least one role was always going to get screwed considering they were only going to add 2 jobs, but after the announcement, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. I pray to all that is holy whatever skills and spells they give to tanks and healers are interesting and useful. And I pray that whatever balance ideas they have for said roles don't just boil down "let's nerf WAR and SCH!"
