I admit i'm really really salty at the moment.
As a tank (and i honestly think a lot of healers feel the same thing) this is a spit in the eye considering that we are literally asked to keep dragging the entire dps population with the same classes for the next years.
Yoshi admitted that since the introduction of a new tank class didn't attracted new player to tank role they dropped any semblance of support to other roles outside the oh so precious dps
and this
is simply wishfulll thinking.
The overhaul IS NOT a complete and utter change on how class play or act, the basic of each class (paladin being the most defensive, warrior the more prone to dps etc.) will not shift what we will get will be less skill for making room to the coming years and expanions.
Why so salty?I admit i'm really really salty at the moment.

Mages were stuck with BLM and SMN since 2.0
Melee were stuck with MNK NIN DRG since 2.4
Tanks and Healer had the most recent additions, 3.0
Why be salty that tanks and healers are stuck 'dragging' dps population?
This is a spit in the eye? really?
On the bright side, most likely gonna get a tank + healer for 5.0, unless they decide 3 of each is enough for the game.
Honestly though, i would not see them add more than 4 of each over the lifetime of ffxiv.
If they had added them now, going by my opinion, we would've only seen dps for the rest of the duration.
I'm a tank as well btw.

I wanted Samurai as DPS so I am with the results.
terrible. sam should have been a tank, guess Ill have to switch my main from tank to dps. thanks SE

I'm supper happy Sam is a DPS.
next class better be shogun :[
All I can say about the Samurai being DPS is....Enjoy your hour long of queues! I'm sticking with my warrior.
PS: jokes aside, a shame since that if samurai was going to be a tank, I might've tried the expansion on launch at least to try it out. I guess I'll just wait for a discount and wait the first patch before purchasing (Don't want to repeat HW mistake).
Toodles

Its a bit unfair to release new jobs based upon research into the current battle system which is about to be changed.
With the upcoming changes to the battle system, cross classing and the visual UI, which could end up being as impactful as being a New Game +, you may well find players changing their specialisms.
For example with easier visual UI you may well find a lot of controller players more willing to play stressful tank or healers roles if they can visualise and be as quick as players with mouse over macros.
It's not a problem of controller or UI layout or something in game related but it simply something bound to happen in any MMO.Its a bit unfair to release new jobs based upon research into the current battle system which is about to be changed.

Player will always play more as dps than tank or healer i don't know why but such is it since the beginning of this genre, and if the devs stop supporting those roles as they did with stormblood is honestly the first nail in the coffin of the life of this game.
