I was honestly hoping for it to be a tank simply do to less people actually playing it, but in still looking forward to it being a melee dps as it's way more fitting in that role.
What are your thoughts and do you think that que times are really going to be a non issue...I just don't see that personally.![]()
PotD isn't a solution when you must do dungeons/trials in the MSQ. Even the sprouts trying to do Sastasha for the first time will be effected. The leveling roulette is suppose to pick those players up, but queue time is going get really long for the DPS. Further, PotD might not even give exp after 60 because SE doesn't want players to do old content over the new Stormblood content.

They already confirmed a new PotD will be implemented for Stormblood. We just don't know yet whether it'll release with the expansion. As for MSQ dungeons, HW didn't have that many. Putting up with the occasional delay won't be that much of a hurdle.PotD isn't a solution when you must do dungeons/trials in the MSQ. I'm very worried about queues with 2 DPS coming in the expansion. I remember ROG/NIN being quite messy and bloating queues, and I'm sure this will have a similar effect. PotD will help with some of that bloat, but I still think it'll be an issue. Though, I guess this does explain why they finally fixed the issue of not being able to queue with your chocobo out.

You're right. But is this still the case now? Do we still have hundreds of ninja's clogging the queues? It eventually evened out, and this will be the same. It may take a little more time, but eventually a majority of the tanks will go back to being tanks, and the same for healers. Just like what happened when Ninja was released.
Please see above ^

To make the assumption that everyone sticks to one role is incredibly incorrect. I don't know anyone who sticks to one job or one role for every single piece of content. Yes, they tend to do the harder stuff on the role/job that they main and/or have geared the most. But most people I know tend to try to do content on a variety of roles to keep things interesting. That's why in most MMOs other people have alts, XIV is different because you can just slap all the jobs on one character. You're right. But is this still the case now? (edit) For those saying that ROG/NIN was different because it was mid expansion, fair enough. Everyone is going to be leveling in Stormblood, that is true too. But most people will be doing the MSQ, new dungeons, and new quests on their main job, while leaving their roulettes for the new jobs. Even in Heavensward there was a mild bloat with the release of the trinity. A lot of HW's hype was around DRK and AST, when HW came out we saw tank and healer queues increase while DPS queues got shorter. It wasn't anything too horrendous, but it existed. Of course they aren't going to stay bloated forever, maybe a month or two, but it's highly probable that there will be bloat with RDM and SAM and that it'll be noticeable.

This had nothing to do with NIN being a dps role.
Which one new class mid-expansion this would happen regardless of role, because it's the only class to level left for many people. So don't pull out that strawman NIN, pls.
And (don't wanna count again, so same numbers):
Snapshot (11:30 ST) of trials cross-server pf of Chaos: 21 tank slots, 17 healer slots, 104 dps slots (+20 free white slots).
Roulettes as dps: Ex -12 min; lvl. 60 - <5 min; leveling < 5 min; trials < 5 min

Unlike Ninja, these jobs are coming at a time when 1) Every job gets a new level cap, 2) we have an entire expansion's worth of content at our feet, and 3) something a lot of people are neglecting - they're aiming to make tanking and healing more refreshing with their new battle system. 4) the size of the population actively playing the game is going to be way bigger - all new content is going to be swarming with players of all roles.I'm very worried about queues with 2 DPS coming in the expansion. I've always thought people blow DPS queue times out of proportion anyway, but it's going to be nowhere near as bad as when Ninja was added in an update with relatively little new content otherwise.

It won't be nearly that bad. When NIN made its arrival, all DPS still queued the same. Now, melee and ranged DPS are considered separate and varying queue times. They gave us one melee and one ranged.I'm very worried about queues with 2 DPS coming in the expansion.
