    Long term, this is going to be a disaster. We will have 9 dps, 3 healers and 3 tanks which is a perfect distribution for 5 man and 10 man teams, but our teams are 4 man and 8 man (as far as we know). No doubt there will be healers and tanks who swap their main role for this new and interesting dps game play. I'm one of them (even if I'm just a casual baddy). This role shift will affect not only Expert roulette dungeon queues but also the savage raid and primal scene.

    I said in an earlier thread that a part of me wished for SAM to be a dps and I acknowledged there would be consequences. Namely not getting to actually play the new jobs in any group content (except PotD). There is a possibility that some people who previously tolerated longer queues as a dps will now reach a breakpoint where it's too much, and that will cause them to tank or heal more often. People don't like being excluded from content. This could help balance the roles but I'm not sure by how much. I guess the community will need to be more tolerant to healer and tank mistakes now that those roles will be a scarcity and some players will be new to it.

    My guess is that it have something to do with the battle system changes and they are creating some sort of base-pillar. To have 3 of all sounds like a programming issue and it will make it easier to add new jobs later on...

    tldr: they just filled holes based on main stats

    Snapshot of current trials cross-server pf of Chaos: 21 tank slots, 17 healer slots, 104 dps slots (+20 free white slots).

    Roulettes as dps: Ex -12 min; lvl. 60 - <5 min; leveling < 5 min; trials < 5 min

    Sooooo...the only content not screaming for more dps is expert roulette... Ye, we totally need to balance class distribution around that..

    For savage contents it's negligible anyway, because you can't do a proper static with people only and forever sticking to one hyped, new class. Like.. itÄs likely that there should be only 1 red mage/samurai per group anyway (unless they gimp themselfes), so 6 others have play an old class anyway (this would be true regardless new jobs... 2 new jobs = 6 old jobs at least per balanced group).

    I hope they really do some significant balancing on tanks and healers to compensate for lack of new jobs....
    Otherwise we will stuck with PLD/WAR or DRK/WAR, and WHM/SCH or AST/SCH preferred comp for yet another expansion, while the DPS slots will have even more combinations to choose from...

    And by balancing, I sincerely hope it won't be nerfs to WAR and SCH....

    Especially if they'd stick to the raid design of requiring the party to have main tank and off tank roles, as well as main healer and sub healer roles....

    I say this isn't an issue because this happened before when Ninja was released. I've seen videos of groups of 30+ ninjas running around doing fates. Of city states with crowds of ninja standing around everywhere, or running by. For awhile everybody was on ninja.. and then it evened back out.

    The same will happen here. People will cap the new jobs, or decide they don't like them, and they'll be back on their old jobs, in the role they're more comfortable with. This could make thing's a bit skewed for a little while, but in the long run things will end up being like they are now.
