Makes a lot more sense now seeing it like that. From another thread:
The players have style options now with split parity across the board. This is a good thing. Honestly I was initially disappointed with no tank, but once I thought about it, I was glad that SE chose to try to clean up and bring identity to the Tanks and heals we have to try to make them more fun to play. PLD needs some attention, so I don't want SAM tank stealing that spotlight.
Hahaha I'm expecting more tank mounts and healer mounts and other exclusive tank/healer goodies to incentivise people to play those roles and to keep things balanced. Such a stupid idea to take something as popular as samurai (everyone loves katanas) and make it a role that a lot of people play already. What was the unicorn, warbear/lion/panther for SE?
I'm kind of happy about it. Although I may be a bit biased considering I hated how Dark Knight was made into a tank considering the theme doesn't even catch you as a team player hell dark knights would sooner kill their own team mate if it meant gaining a bit more power. That aside, I'm happy I'll finally be able to play a swordsman. Also I wouldn't worry to much about ques. We have other ways of leveling and most people will go right back to their mains that have the roles they like playing after the first few weeks. So even if 90% of the playerbase make a SAM not even half will stick with the class.
Now when it comes to tanks and healers not getting a new class I am speculating, but I think they want to wait until they do the overhaul to the job system before adding more in 5.0, maybe. If they do make another tank lets hope it is the Blue Mage. lol
This isn't even an issue. Players that main a Tank or a Healer usually main those classes because they enjoy tanking, or healing. They aren't suddenly going to hate tanking and vow to never play anything but SAM or RDM ever again. They will switch over and try it out, maybe even cap it. But eventually, they're going to shift back to the role that they enjoy the most. Everything will even back out in time. The problem is not that. How many healers and tanks will stop being tanks and healer to become DPS? That's the real problem. The number of tanks and healers will drastically descent by adding 2 popular classes both as DPS. How will YOshi-P compensate this for tanks and healers? What they will give us?
Super fucking stoked. Called it a while ago. It's like a double dose of awesome. 1. It's a DPS and we finally get our sword based one 2. All the people so cocksure it wasn't Sam Raimi and that it was Blue Mage.
they say lightning doesnt strike the same spot twice, but in those days "Roc of the Ages" was getting hammered by it constantly
On a bright side, we get another 2 years of Chemist/Dancer threads, Blue Mage threads, PUP,BST and Mystic Knight threads

Which begs the question wth is the panda mount for then I had assumed it was a tank mount for SAM...Hahaha I'm expecting more tank mounts and healer mounts and other exclusive tank/healer goodies to incentivise people to play those roles and to keep things balanced. People are forgetting, if dungeon queues are abysmal, people will simply opt to level through the new PotD. Duty Finder isn't the only option.
