that's just what ppl are use to. you can clear anything in this game no matter what you bring as dps. hes saying that theyre all dps regardless. whether youre up the bosses ass or standing far away.

Nope, sorry. Dragoon and Monks are pure dps melee class. Black Mage and Summoner are pure dps magic class (they are "casters"). Ninja, Machinist and Bard have support abilities to help the other members of the group while a Machinist can, for example, lower his dps by turning his turret into a Tp or Mp fountain so the other classes can keep up the high numbers. As ToppeHatte stated, there is a reason why a party composition has a mix of them.

I like Samurai as a DPS to be honest. Yes, it'll be a nightmare for the Dungeon Ques for a while, but at the end of the day I doubt too many people will switch from their favored role anyways. Tanks will continue to tank, Healers will continue to Heal, and DPS will continue to DPS, just with two new flavors.

When DRK came out, at least for my data server the first 2 weeks of HW launch all roulettes said need dps. Since the jobs are starting at lvl 50 it wont hurt players coming up from lvl 1.
Will dps queue times increase, yes but they are already large enough.
RM and SAM seem like 2 very fun classes. And I am sure once people are done playing the classes they will go back to playing either their tank or healer, or they will do what many people fear and forgo healing and tanking and make SAM or RM their main.

I like it
I hate tanking extremely, and after getting confirmed that no healer is getting added, it's a pleasant surprise I'll at least have a new class to level after all.

I main healer and play tank quite a bit. I am happy that they did not include either in 4.0x.
Right now, the three classes they have now are very unbalanced. There are healers and tanks that are just about unwelcome in endgame. I want to see that fixed before they add more jobs and make an even bigger mess.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
Welp I am changing my Main Job to Samurai instead of Red Mage. Why?
Because I love Sword Melee Jobs!

I FREAKING CALLED IT. So glad is a dps .I was honestly hoping for it to be a tank simply do to less people actually playing it, but in still looking forward to it being a melee dps as it's way more fitting in that role.
What are your thoughts and do you think that que times are really going to be a non issue...I just don't see that personally.

Not sure why people are so upset about there not being any healers or tanks.
Any WHM or PLD can tell you how badly they're balanced. To throw another job into the midst of that would have been horrible. I want them to take their time and reevaluate the identity of certain jobs and what they can do for the party.
Once things are balanced and certain jobs aren't suffering, I'll look to getting new toys to play with.

Again, I don't see why they have to rebalance certain jobs or add new jobs. Why not both? Also, now that there's no new tank (healer too I guess, but I feel like most people gave up on wishing for a healer when only 2 new jobs were confirmed), the pressure is greater than ever to get balance right and make them all fun to play. If whatever changes they make to PLD, for example, don't "bring it up to speed" with the other two, now what? Are they going to keep trying to balance it over the expansion until they get it right? Or are we gonna have to wait 2 more years for another round of sweeping changes? Not sure why people are so upset about there not being any healers or tanks.

Let's not get it twisted, if they "fix" every healer and tank, no one will be more happy than I am. I would love that. My problem is the word "if."
