DPS obsession in farm groups

That's why I main PLD...unbelievably easy rotation for acceptable damage.

DPS have like no responsibilities until they hit end game & suddenly it's like they too many. I am terrified to join farm parties for fear of ridicule. I know I can do good on dummies but in actual fights I have no idea what the PF people expect of me. Oh no I did 900 instead of 2000 & I get booted...that sounds simple but that messes with my emotions & it makes me feel like trash.

You misunderstand, its not a crime to take minutes longer to finish a dungeon. Its a crime to not give a shit about trying then trying to justify it.

Well yes, that makes sense: more dps = more runs for the same period. I'll give you a fairly recent example:
farming condensation for the relic, we go in A1s as 4 tanks 2 healers 2 dds, and there is another group for A1s farm in p/f with 2 tanks 1 healer 4 dds and looking for a 5th. We do a run, get out, and out of curiosity I check the p/f again: they are in the same spot in the list, now looking for 2 dds.
So, yes: more dps = more/faster runs, definitely.

when you start a farming party, it's for fast clears.if ppl wanted to farm at normal speed, they'd use duty finder.

Last time I used PF a lot I nearly quit due to all the bickering and nonsense that went on and on and on, and people leaving and joining, not communicating...I felt like I was babysitting except not getting paid. T.T

you're either a) basically afking, looking for people to just carry you thru the run. if you are, fair play, good luck, but prob best not to complain on the forums.
or b) genuinely trying, but not succeeding. and I guess it's easier to write a rant at those filthy elitists, than it is to actually maybe think they have a point and look at why your numbers are so low

A clear is still a clear. If people don't die constantly I'm ok with that. Extra DPS is just a welcome bonus. There are some players who are obsessed with that and harassing others with their DPS meters. I suggest you should report any player who is harassing you with this and using bad language. It's against the ToS and is an offense GM's do not take lightly. I have no problem with lower than expected DPS as long it's not causing problems with the run (such as many deaths) but I have a serious problem when people calling names on others and harassing others thinking they are something important if the output some more DPS than others.
