DPS obsession in farm groups

i'm so tired of this,i start a farm party,we clear the trial,yes it takes 8 minutes over 6 minutes,some amazing dps parsing lovely individual inevitably goes:

Ummm, ex trials is the exact kind of content you need a parser lol. Theres a huge difference in DPS, you might kinda want to know who is slacking off. While I agree there are some who are a little too obsessed with their parse, its not the parser's fault. Its ur job as party leader to eliminate them if its hindering your farm rate.

Just write "low DPS is okay" on your PF's, so people know what they're getting into.

You'll get plenty of people joining, lol.

While I can understand that a faster clear is a faster farm, a clear is a clear still. It really depends on the circumstances in my opinion.

If it's the first couple of times in since the party started, then I don't see a reason for complaints about DPS as long as your clearing.

If this is like your 20th time in there since the group farmed, then maybe the party should work together to speed up the clears.

Of course farm groups are obsessed with high DPS... They're farming to try and get something as fast as possible, so the faster they clear the faster they get what they want. If I'm farming for light and I know with good DPS I can get through X number of runs which will net me Y amount of light, anything less that that costs me. Say it's a 6 minute run... over an hour you can get 10 runs in. If it's 5 points per run then I can get 50 points in an hour. If the run takes even 1/3rd of the time longer you're losing 2 minutes per run. That means you maybe 7 runs per hour or 35 light. That's 15 light per hour loss for those extra 2 minutes a run. DPS is everything in a Farm group, it's what they're all about.

I find it really sad how people NEED to skip soar. This fight is a joke, and they want to skip the only mecha that put the team in trouble. I wanted to farm Zurvan's bird but this fight is so boring that I don't feel the envy to do it.

The Zurvan groups with dps good enough to skip soar have tended to be the best groups I was in/managed. Even better when soar is performed correctly and a dps gets to use LB3 at the end.

While it's true that mechanics are more important than high dps, there's a certain point where you look at a solo tank group that can't skip soar and go "mmm...someone's getting carried."

If you don't skip soar you don't go solo tank, simple as that.
If you don't skip soar (i'd call it Soar+, because single tank soar is more dangerous) all advantages of solo tank are vanished.. the only point of solo tanking is soar skip.

Realized OP was talking about Nidhogg farms.

Higher dps equals skipped phases, less party damage, and faster clears. Faster clears equals more runs, which means in turn faster totem acquisition and more chance at lanner whistle drops. Everyone wants good, fast farms. It means they have a better chance of getting what they want before the party breaks up. No one stays til everyone gets their whistle anymore.

I farmed it out when it was current content, so I dunno what Nid farms are like today. I'm speaking of farm party mentalities in general. The farm that I was part of put out insane dps and our WHM solo healed while the SCH dps'd about 95% of the fight.

All in the name of fast, clean clears.
