What do you do when passing someone on your Friend's List that you barely know?

They're usually the first to say something to me. Have a little chit-chat until my next unspoiled node is ready, and then off I go.

Most of my FL is comprised of random people that decided we had enough of RMTs sending friend requests. We filled our friend lists to stop it.

I delete them from my FL.

I'm very specific with my friend list, I need to know exactly who someone is, and put them in one of the 5 or 6 categories available, and don't want any random strangers on it.
At the same time, I don't want to be rude and flatout refuse when someone sends me a friend request after a nice chat or duty together, so I accept (while planning to delete them later).
But because I don't always instantly think about that the next day, every few days 10-15 names without any association and who I don't remember gather at the bottom of my list.
So when I run upon an orange name that is unfamiliar, it's a great opportunity to remind me to delete them

I have a lot of people on my FL, and I those I don't really know were contacts for...something...at one point (usually some Primal farm or such). I don't do anything most of the time


And then there's the person who /hug /poke /pet /dote me. I'll usually /wave back to be polite...

I encounter them every day. The woes of having a full friends list that takes an annoying amount of time to load every single time I delete people.

I don't have enough friends that I don't know for this to be a huge concern for me.

I only have six people on my FL (how embarrassing) and I know all but one of them personally. I use the AFK strategy a lot on the person I don't really know and it's definitely mutual (we are friends of convenience as I'm a crafter)

What do you do when you pass by someone on your friend list and you don't recognize the name because one of your friends has a complete inability to let you know that they changed their name, and won't give you a clue who they are despite having also fantasia'd?
