In the past, I said I would like to see a new seasonal event to celebrate the birth of the Final Fantasy series. I suggested this as a seasonal event, but it would be too complicated (14 seasonal dungeons). That's why now I thought another way: make this as a minor expansion (an add-on I think).
In FF14 we have gear and minions from previous FF, these are good tributes to the entire saga (seriously, I think FF14 is a good tribute to the series), and this is what I suggest: an add-on to celebrate the 30 years of FF.
The existence of another worlds is already a fact.
We have seen characters from another worlds and heard legends from another worlds:
- A myth of the original Warrior of Light from FF represented as a minion.
- A myth of Firion represented as a minion.
- Cloud of Darkness tried to destroy Eorzea.
- A myth of Kain represented as a minion.
- Gilgamesh has appeared in this world from the rift.
- A myth of the gullwings represented as minions.
- Ultros & Typhoon too.
- Also the Golems from Dragon Quest.
- The legendary Yo-kai from other world.
- Shantotto traveled here, and Iroha appeared here too.
- A God of light also brought Lightning here.
- And... We are going to travel to FF12's world in 4.0.
New area
- Otherworld - Interdimensional Rift
A new open area based on the same location from FF5 (recently appeared in the new Dissidia). A flying place similar to the Sea of Clouds, Churning Mists, or Azys Lla. With two notorial FATEs (like the current four ones) focused in Omega and Shinryu.
As "comic-relief", the area could have a settlement in which it's located Gilgamesh's sweet little home.
The bait for fishes would be the aerial or the aetherochemical ones.
14 dungeons
The add-on would allow players to unlock dungeons based on locations from each FF game (FF1: Chaos Shrine, FF7 Midgar, FF13 Eden... for the FF11 dungeon you can choose the most popular dungeon from that game and adapt it to 14's gameplay).
Obviously, to not corrupt the canon of those games, the events of each dungeon would be parallel to the original events (for example, FF13's dungeon would be in Eden during it's destruction, but while the Lightning's team is already inside Orphan's Cradle. That's the thing, our adventurers travel to those worlds, but don't interact with the main events).
This means, don't include bosses like Garland, Kefka or Ultimecia. Only iconical bosses without story: three of the four fiends in FF1's dungeon (since they reappear each time in the final dungeon), Ozma in FF9's, fal'Cie Eden in FF13's...
14 dungeons, each one based on one title, from FF1 to FF15. FF14 not included, this game would be represented by 2 new trials.
Possible lore and story
Well, I thought something like this (WARNING: I'm not so good with lores):
Something strange is happening through Eorzea, 14 interdimensional rifts appeared and threaten to distort the world itself. Our adventurers shall enter to those rifts, travel to those another worlds (as I said: DUNGEONS of course, I'm not saying open worlds, the only open area would be the Rift), defeat the final boss of each dungeon, and close the rift.
As for the main antagonist... Well... I have one in mind: Nael van Darnus' return.
His body was destroyed by a Warrior of Light, and his soul was destroyed by Louisoix, but his corrupted and insane mind survived in the Rift. Now, the White Raven wants to "purify" everything, destroying every world in the process.
In time, thanks to the echo, we would see Nael's past as Eula and discover the origin of his insanity, how the death of her brother shocked Eula's mind so she changed her vision of the reality, and believed herself to be Nael, saved by "Eula's sacrifice". How "he" killed his father and "his" beloved Bradamante, and how no one in Garlemald never knew the truth, not even her own mind, and how "he" became a Legatus.
(You can skip some details, since I've imagined certain gore scene about Eula's transformation into Nael in which Eula, convinced she was her recently deceased brother, cut off her own breasts as part of her insanity... Too hard xD).
The soul of the real Nael would appear before us in the last moments asking for help to free his sister from insanity, so she can finally rest in peace with him.
Trials and their own lore
This would include two new trials as well:
- Rivenroad: Based in the original fight with some mechanics from T9 and new ones (turning from the Legacy armored man into the T9 female dragon-like creature in some change of phase). This would be harder than the 1.0 fight, but easier than T9. The lore? Fight against Nael to release Eula from madness and save the worlds.
As I said, the 1st part of the fight would be similar to 1.0. Armored male Nael attacking with dragoon actions, lasers, meteors that we should destroy... Then, the part of the Golems from T9, Nael uses Megaflare and turns into the T9 dragon form. From here, the strategy would be similar to T9, but easier.
- Rivenroad (Extreme): The Extreme version, maybe with new mechanics never seen before. Harder than T9 but easier than T9S. The lore? Though Eula now rests in peace with her brother, the shadow of the insane White Raven is now part of the Rift as a creature who acts by instinct. Seeking the destruction like his original self, he has returned to finish the work. Defeat Nael deus Darnus' remnant and banish him back to the Rift.
Since this is not the real Nael, but his remnant, he would use more attacks, based on his memories and the other worlds, so he would use attacks from other bosses (like Bhunivelze in Lightning Returns), like:
- Tank swap debuff.
- A new debuff for HLR strat. If HLR heals someone with this new debuff, it'll deal damage instead of healing, or even kill. Debuffed players should be "killed" by Nael, so instead of dying, they'll have fully healed and the debuff will be removed.
- Heartless Angel: Based on Sephiroth from VII. A white raven appears. Don't move nor attack or you're dead, similar to Ozma's Acceleration Bomb. If you do this correctly, the raven will leave you just with 1 HP.
- Merciless Judgement: Based on Orphan from XIII. Nael will appear in one side and use Bradamante to attack with a huge large AoE which deals heavily damage.
- Dalamud Dynamo: A new and more powerful version of Lunar Dynamo, Nael's signature attack.
- Dalamud: At 10%, Nael will summon Dalamud and will kilo everyone. Similar to Odin's Zantetsuken.
The creation of this new entity: Nael deus Darnus' remnant, would open a door, so he (or now, it) can appear as a superboss in other FF games like Shinryu, Ultros, or Gilgamesh do.
Loot
Each dungeon would have rewards based on each FF: gear, Modern Aesthetics, thematic housing furniture, minions, mounts, bardings...
Since FF11 is also a MMORPG, the loot (gear, hairstyles, minion/mount, housing) can be based in the most popular or the most iconical from that game (except Shantotto's minion and Iroha's gear, they're already in the game in their own events). Also, FF3's dungeon musn't be the Crystal Tower, since FF14 has it's own version of the Crystal Tower.
As for the loot of the two trials, it would be Nael van Darnus' armor, minion, card (with the armored Nael), weapons based on Bradamante. And "White Raven", a mechanical flying mount (magitek-like) based on Nael's helmet, which has the form of a White Raven (already suggested in other thread). As for the helmet itself as head gear, we can have the "red eyes" thanks to the "visor" emote.
By this way, all other FF items would be now available with this add-on, so SE can have another kind of veteran rewards like they originally had.
-----
Yeah, yeah, I know, this is impossible and many of you won't like these ideas, but hey, suggesting is free. xD We'll always have the veteran rewards and the current seasonal events like Lightning, Shantotto and Iroha's, (seriously, repeat Shantotto's at least one last time), but I wish for special dungeons based in previous FF with their own enemies.
The end. (writing this with tablet and spanish auto-correct has been so hard...).
