I recommend on focusing on the story first, the side quest while tempting to do, you will have plenty of time to do later, focus on one job and learn to play it well before you go crazy trying to level everything at once, it's easy to get burn out.

Actually mix it up otherwise you will burn yourself out on the story too. As for classes try them all find out what you actually like. Just take it easy don't worry about catching up and enjoy the game. When possible unlock palace of the dead at level 16 do it. This place is brilliant for testing multiple classes out and seeing what their skills do.

Also don't rush to get to HW stay in the novice network and soak up as much advice as you can. Try to get a Free company as early as possible to make more friends especially if you are playing DPS it's so much easier to level if you have a healer or tank friend or maybe swapping classes so they go DPS and u heal or tank.

Also if you find that someone is giving you advice. Just reply thanks for the info I will look into that. As you will find you will get plenty wanted or not.

OP I agree with you. I'm a new member as well, I joined just the last day of January this year and its been so much fun playing and learning the story line, but I agree its overwhelming. I've started doing what some other posters have suggested and I'm just focusing on the class quests and the story ones. Gradually the other stuff is seeping in and starting to make sense. This is the first game I've ever found that makes me want to hurry up and slow down at the same time.
