"Ul'dah can keep their dusty markets, and their streets paved in silver and gold.
Limsa Lominsa keep your pirates, and your ships covered in musty mold.
My loyalty lies with Gridania, with the Moogles and the tree spirits of old." -The Forky Conjurer
Also note that novice network kicks are not proactively vetted by Square. Unjust kicks need to be reported by the victim for Square to punish the person abusing kick. Likewise, justly kicking someone will not actually have any permanent consequences - for that you would need to actually use the support desk to report whatever evil deeds warranted the kick.
MAIN RULE: Ask if anyone needs advice before starting so that you don't seem like a know it all. Specially if a new person is in party. Sometimes it could just be a new character but vet player.
I follow the main guidelines and use these. So far it's very simple and get good results.
*Help those in need / Advice/ Give them a chance to prove they can do a run, if they are being disruptive in a polite manner explain.
*If party wipes, as a friendly reminder not what you saw and give tips, be open to them as well.

There aren't any set rules. Just be helpful where you can in your given role. I'm also a DoH/L mentor and I give advice on where to find things, gathering or crafting rotations, how to succeed at collectibles, things to look for in the market, etc. So long as the crown isn't just something you wear, then you'll do fine.
