Are there any rules specifially for mentors?

Like the title asks: Is there any extra rules when becoming a mentor?
I became eligible for DoH/L mentor and a friend of mine told me that there's lots of added rules that could easily cause someone to be banned so I shouldn't go for it.
I want to help people but if there are any rules for mentors I want to know about them. I tried searching a bit but couldn't find anything about rules and mentors. I know that should be a sign there aren't any but I just want to be sure about it.

Not really. The main rule is do not abuse mentor status. While many can interpret this in many ways, the most obvious that would certainly remove your mentor status would be repeated use of the kicking ability in the Novice Network. Every time someone is removed from NN, SE customer service is notified. They can decide if the removal was warranted or not and repeated misuse will result in the loss of rank.

Anything else is just an "expected norm" (used loosely).

I never really saw that. I didn't click the "become a mentor" option because I wanted to see what rules my friend might've been talkin about (and I didn't want to risk that there wasn't a confirmation). Honestly though, I don't understand why he would say there's rules that could easily cause me to be banned. He was probably messing with me, but he sounded serious at the time.

There are no "rules" for mentors, there are only "expectations", as described in the image above. It's for this reason we have so many terrible and unfriendly mentors who get away with it.

It's possible it may just be how he interpreted the last statement or he's going off of inaccurate hearsay, though you would obviously have a better idea as to his intentions than I would.

At the time he said the possibility of being banned was the main reason why he didn't become a mentor at all and said for me to do whatever I wanted.

To my knowledge, there is nothing a Mentor can do to get banned that wouldn't also get them banned as a non-Mentor.

Repeatedly showing bad behavior while a Mentor might get your Mentorship stripped from you, but you wouldn't be banned for it.
