Thread: Is savage unlocking in 3.55 ?

I saw there was a maintenance on Feb 27 for 3.55. But will savage unlock at this point? I think it should because as it is now you beat all savage 9-12 in like a hour then you are locked out of gear for the rest of the week.

Not many people are doing progression anymore and cleared it several months ago and it would give us something to do getting all jobs to 270 before Stormblood comes out.

Historically no, they won't remove the weekly cap on gear/books for savage. Gear progression is still a valid incentive for keeping people playing and with no new content until June, SE need to give people a reason to keep subscribing and playing every week.

Maybe when they do part 2 later in march the cap will be removed, and also double the weekly cap on scriptures. We shall see.

I would guess in the March patch they will abolish the lockouts. Coil loot lockout was abolished in 2.55; however the way they did patch 2.5/2.55 was essentially the same as 3.5 part 1/3.5 part 2.

There are two parts of the 3.55 "series", there will be another after the Feb 28th. The Double Scripture cap will come earlier than Poetics did in ARR because he mentioned he'd like players to have an alternate job geared before the xpac.

There really is no incentive to unlock Savage at this point, they have to exhaust all the other options first. Plus just imagine the i275 Alex weapon inflation at this point.

I am trying to gear alt jobs like my monk and I ran into problems like that. The weapon and body are both bis I have 11 extra a12s books. That is another 5 weeks before I could get both, not buying either until then in case I get the random drop. I know that last time 2.55 unlocked it so I would hoping it comes sooner rather then later to give people time to get all their jobs to 270 to ease the leveling process in stormblood when you have to get all your jobs to 70 which will take a long time once it is out.

EDIT: People are mentioning the "March" patch, but I don't think it's likely we are getting a patch in March since Feb 27/28 is borderline March anyways.

They've said several times that there will be a March patch. Until they announce a delay to 3.56 we should still assume that is when it will appear. If it arrives at the end of March there's only 10 weeks or thereabouts until the beginning of Stormblood pre-release.

Thing is, they have listed 3.55 and 3.5 part 2 as separate things on the same timeline, with one expected feb and the other march.
