    Mateus Initiative

    Hey everyone!

Since 17 January 2017, is bringing many new, and greatly welcomed changes to the game, I am trying to push for recruitment to our small server.

Many people move to larger servers for RP, Raiding, Trials, etc, but many of these functions are initiated through Party Finder. I reckon that we should see a data center abundance of party finder runs coming with 3.5, and with that, maybe the end to the monopoly on runs that large servers have?

I mean sure, statics probably will 99% stay in the same server, but most weekly clear/daily runs for Alex/WT/ex trials will be data center wide (if people mark it as that).

So lets bring people to Mateus, and ALL the small servers! We have an abundance of small & medium houses, we don't have people doing "no bonus" runs on party finder, who secretly bought the clears themselves!

Give it a shot! Don't pay 20-200+ mil for a house on big servers *Gilgamesh*, lets build a more connect data center community!

Gilgamesh is not what it used to be, most players I knew left to Leviathan. I believe Leviathan is the next big server next to Balmung (still not decided on going to Levi or Balmung).

Quite the contrary! Gilgamesh is still #2 to Balmung. FFXIVCENSUS.COM.

My question is, why not try to add neutrality to the population across the data center? I'm sure at least 80% of all players will give the "data center" option on party finder a go, to fill up faster; so lets not just go from cramped to even more cramped, and give servers a chance!

What a normal MMO company would do like in Blade and Soul JP: just fuse small servers to one big one, there is no reason to have small servers and I think they will save money by doing this aswell.

There are only small servers because people were limited to party finder in the same server only, giving up the potentials of housing, of less congestion/lag, and of a less monopolized economy. Unless SE is willing to add more housing wards, it won't happen. They only merged servers in FFXI, towards the end of Abyssea, well after the 9th+ year of the games existence.

Dear Goulding, if you are in a low population server and sell runs - you will rule the market and I think it's quite easy to have the monopoly effect in a small server than a big one.

Like yes you know what would be great? If SE was like: OK free server transfers to Mateus! I mean, that would invite more players! But since we do get cross server of, I mean... The whole point in Gilgamesh was to just raid cos it was filled most of the time, going to a low populated server makes sense though.

Most MMO actually don't merge servers, because it sends the signal that there are too few players on some servers and the game is "dying" to potential new players. And indeed, saving money is the primary motivation behind merging servers.

Seeing I know people from both, and am on Balmung. It really depends what you're looking for. Balmung heavily favours roleplay, which does keep most of the city state areas highly populated. It's also developing a more casual focused raid scene. Levi seems more like a smaller Gilgamesh.

While I am two months late, I can state that there is a group of us also making a call out to attract new players to Mateus. Though I am doing it through the Hydaelyn Roleplay Coalition, because the Roleplay community on Balmung is massive.

Folks cannot always afford to pay and it has gotten that bad. Those who are interested in roleplay and have trouble getting on Balmung or even Gilgamesh, can come a smaller server, with a lower population, and able to maybe achieve some of their dreams (such as owning a house) with little problem.

There are even groups trying to do this on Jenova and on Sirenl. Cause as RP goes... And being on Balmung since Besaid... Balmung has become overly crowded. Which is why having these smaller servers be represented is a really good choice. People shouldn't be afraid of small servers, they should see them as a opportunity to make something grow that can make a better for the community for all.
