What does it mean if someone doesn't show up on the Lodestone?

I queued for leveling roulette as a dark knight with a bard friend, and got put in Copperbell with a ninja and white mage. Quickly I noticed something odd about the healer, they just spammed aero on the same target and almost let me die. It's almost like they didn't know how to play. I checked their gear and search info, and they were around i260-270, and had all classes at 60. Even had the Advent Attire for subbing for 720 days. So they didn't look new. When they would pull groups randomly, I expressed my annoyance with this, and they kicked me.

So I went to look them up on the Lodestone. I copied and pasted their name from the chat log, and it said they don't exist. I've only ever heard of that happening with new characters. But they couldn't be new. I waited a day, and it still doesn't show up.

Am I being paranoid? I've heard of people buying accounts and stuff and that would explain them acting strangely, but their lack of presence on the Lodestone too seems really shady.

In short... They have to have a Lodestone page if they're playing XIV. The system creates it automatically and even if you were to buy an account from someone else the page would still be there. Most likely you have something set wrong in your search, like picking a specific server since, if you meet them in DF, they're likely not on your server but the search is narrowed down to show just your server. Also, if they have things like apostrophes in their name, it could screw the search up, try looking for the simplest version of their name you can.

Maybe you forgot to clear the drop down menu where it asks for the server? It's set to your own for default, but maybe that character is from another server?
Then you have to click on the drop down field and scroll to the very top to find something like "all worlds". ^^

Hm... I'm not sure. I'll check again when I can. It still wouldn't explain their strange behavior, though.

i270 in copperbell? Yeah, I'd say that was someone who has run the dungeon like 200 times (I know those feels) and was on autopilot. I've literally struggled to stay awake in early dungeons.

Have you tried just googling the name? Unless it is super common it will likely pull up their lodestone page even if they have changed names or something. At the very least you might find their FC to be able to stalk them that way.

Maybe check the others too since you were kicked in case they were friends fooling around.

Yeah, what the others said. You can set certain info on your Lodestone page to private, but you can't hide the page itsself.
If you can't find them at all, make sure to include all languages, classes, servers and so on in your search. It also helps to search for just the first or last name instead of both together.
If all else fails, google "firstname lastname ffxiv" and they should be the top result.

Another possibilty is that they just went through a name change yesterday. The Lodestone is kinda slow in catching up, when I changed my name it took a while until I could be found there with my new name.
