    Suggestion: FFXIV as "offline" game

I'm not asking to turn FF14 from a MMORPG into an offline game, but I have a suggestion, so the storyline of 1.0 won't be forgotten/ignored: An offline remake of the original version of "FF14 Legacy".

This would be a remake of the original version for PC and PS4, so we can play those events. Obviously, the battle system and the dungeons should be reworked, since this remake wouldn't be focused into the online battle (though maybe it could have some online features, like FFXV is going to have).

This remake could have a way to transfer data to the main FF14, so we can get 1.0 lost rewards like the original Gobbue mount, the White Raven's earrings, the Legacy tatoo, or new ones exclusive from the remake: a mechanical White Raven mount (based on Nael's helmet), Bradamante...

Obviously, the main character should be Meteor or another character created by us, but in the lore, would be a different adventurer, since the main FF14's one didn't were at those events.

While I would like this, I think the dev team doesn't want to reapproach the very idea of 1.0. Maybe later on, like 5.0 or so.

As a single player game, you could simply have main characters from the story as your party in the retelling.

I feel like at best they could have some new bonus item code for pre-order, but you're going to be retreading some major angst by suggesting the Legacy rewards be a potential thing people could get by playing the remake.

This will not happen simply because 1.0 is dead and buried as far as SE is concerned - ARR is not just a sequel to 1.0, it's a reboot as well, meaning 1.0's storyline is now mostly scrapped and decanonized (the only part that is still canon is the 7th Umbral Era story concerning the summoning of Dalamud). The original starting city storylines and the abridged 'Path of the Twelve' story have been cannibalized for ideas and concepts in ARR, meaning SE are picking and choosing from 1.0's story as to what is still canon and what isn't. Thus, you will never see a remade 1.0 version set at the end of the Sixth Astral Era featuring those original 1.0 storylines. If a Sixth Astral Era set game/expansion is ever made though, expect it to feature an entirely new and retconned storyline that has no connection to 1.0.

I hate to say it, but those are now gone forever too and will never be coming back - the 'Legacy' tattoo for instance identifies a character made during 1.0's original term of service - even if 1.0 was brought back you could never have that tattoo anyway (because it would have required 1.0 player data for SE to import into ARR). Same with those other rewards like the Legacy campaign and the original gobbue mount - these were all incentives to 1.0 players to keep playing when SE needed player support for the game the most. That's accomplished, so those rewards are no longer offered. Even if 1.0 was brought back, there would be no reason to restore such 'rewards' I'm sorry to say.

I like the idea, but if it was to smaller game (handheld/mobile) it would work nicely (think like Brave Exvius). It's something that a B-team could do while the main team continue with patches. It could be called Final Fantasy XIV: Memories of the Fall. Told to us from the viewpoint of the Wandering Minstrel. But anything about 1.0 will likely be kept very separate from ARR and they shouldn't really have an influence on each other.

When you have lag, every action is an adventure.

Again, this won't happen - and SE themselves even trialed a restored 1.0 after it was initially shut down for a month and a half at the end of 2012 (when ARR was still in Alpha testing). No one was interested (I remember logging into the game on the second last day in December 2012 and I was literally the only person logged in on Ridill.). That little experiment pretty much proved to SE that 1.0 was a lost cause and was not worth worrying about any further.

So please, let the deceased rest in peace...

Pretty much all of this. I can also tell you that, as someone who played 1.0, the stories you get starting into the city states in 2.0 are very... very similar to the story in 1.0. As stated here, the only really important story from 1.0 that carries over is that of the Calamity, Dalamud and Bahamut. All of those are neatly tucked into the main story and Coil. 1.0 is a game that needed to die so that 2.0 could rebuild and fix everything that was wrong in the old game. This nostalgia for a failed game... a game that was universally panned and denounced is unnecessary and attempting to "remake" the failed version is simply a waste of time, effort and money for SE that they will never undertake.

No one was interested because no data was save people logged on but it was pretty much pointless. Would you play a game in RPG or MMo in this day and age where you data isn't saved.

I'd like a 1.0 book. I really liked reading "Tales from the Calamity", specifically "Of Friends Lost and Found." A talented enough writer could likely give us the Player Character's story without leading on to race, gender or class. But personally, I'd like to see more of everything else that was going on, maybe even the view point of someone entirely not involved with the Scions but still had contact with the city state leaders and whatnot.
