"reasonable", to me is up to 30 min. Cannot play all day so that's the limit before I give up.

Hmm. You're not, by chance, queueing with less than 150 ilvl, are you? If so, it's only trying to match you in a level 50 match (which nobody plays). That would be your issue if it were true.
