I was on Balmung/Besaid from 1.0 until about a year ago. I couldn't stand the RP PFs up all the time because I'm not into it, and then I thought about how silly it was that I was on the unofficial RP server when I don't RP at all. So I moved to Gilgamesh because endgame stuff is more my style. I wish I had a house but that's really the only problem I have with it. Balmung is Balmung. Best to take anything that comes from there with a grain of salt.

I don't really know what the fuss is about with Balmung. interacting with Balmung people outside of FFXIV I found that the Balmung population rather obnoxious which has turn me off login to my Balmung alt and even posibliy transfer that alt to another server. i'm having more fun on hyperion with my main and alt then I feel I will on Balmung. As for (E)RP I tend to do this at my house/apartment which keeps it the chat out of public sight (I know there is a housing issue on balmung even with the apartments being added)

1. Turn off Shout Chat
2. Report gross stuff in public channels and party finder
3. Get off Balmung.

I keep my shout chats and yell chats turned off and honestly I don't have a problem. If there are kids playing this then parents need to understand that the ESRB does NOT pertain to the social channels and they need to put in Parental controls to keep their tikes safe, such as disabling all general chats except maybe party when in instances.

They should name Balmung (THEE unofficial RP server) and a few of the low pop servers as Official RP servers and allow free transfers for a limited time from Balmung to those low pop servers, maybe the last 2 months before the expansion hits.
