I don't want to be passing through major cities in-game only to scarcely bump into anyone. And what issues does Balmung have over Greg? Both are fairly close in population. The only difference is their respective mentalities. Nevertheless, SE has no real way of forcing people into lower pop servers. If they did close Balmung and Gilgamesh, it restricts people from those servers convincing friends to play.

And on Gilgamesh, you would be judged on your FFlog parses. Larger communities simply attract those kinds of people. Due to its social and RP appeal, Balmung has more than a few from tumblr, which brings in its own... opinions to put things politely. You're always going to have someone judge you for superficial things. It just seems more commonplace on Balmung because the server population is massive compared to one half.

    ?
Buying a house on Gilgamesh is difficult. Longer lockout times are making getting a character on Gilgamesh more difficult. I don't really do hunts on my alts, but I'm sure they drop quickly too.

You trade erp drama for raiding drama I guess, but overall I see the same problems on a slightly smaller scale.

There is incentive. If free transfers became available to low pop servers off of Balmung, If you get your entire FC to transfer to a low pop server that has multitudes of housing available and a decent economy, you can buy up stock on balmung and sell on your new server and be able to purchase back that house you had. It's not rocket science.

T rating is just for the game content done by Square Enix not the online ineteractions with players. For online games there is always the caveat that online interactions are not rated. You cannot control what people do online in a MMO.

You can control the content of public chat channels, as Grimmel pointed out, explicit and obscene content in public chat is highly reportable by anyone who feels offended or harassed by such stuff. RP is perfectly fine, anything goes - among consenting adults - so to speak. but when you use a public chat channel, there is no consent given by others, and any RP is potentially imposing on others. Explicit and/or obscene talk needs to be kept to party, FC (within FC rules) or LS chat streams, not public chat. People should report this kind of behavior, imposing your RP on others in such a manner will no doubt earn the RP community in general and quite possibly the server itself, a poor reputation.

    There's been a suggestion before...

If someone uses your recruit a friend code, they could be allowed to create a character on the same server as yours regardless of normal restrictions...

While it doesn't solve all the problems, and possibly creates some of its own, there it is.

This is a terrible idea and would only serve to bloat specific servers even more.

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

Yep and nope, as far as I know, GMs can and should act on such complaints, but it's an area where they apply their own judgement to the situation. I think I am right in saying that strictly speaking, abusing a public chat channel to the extent that other players must block that channel is interfering with their play and can be acted upon. But as you say, it may not be acted upon, depending on the GM's judgement. IIRC though, the terms and conditions of service we all agree to layout the grounds that a GM could use to take action, even if it is merely a word of warning to the folks needlessly imposing their RP on others.
