I Found That: Botanist V - Is this intended?

I recently obtained my blessed pickaxe on miner. I did not have to mine a single 3 star folklore item to get the achievement.

Now I'm working on botanist, and I'm currently at 227/230 items. I have one more folklore book to obtain, but it only opens up 3 items, one of which is 3 star. Leaving me 1 short of 230.

Am I missing something, or do I seriously need one 3 star folklore item to get the hatchet? (An item which is intended to help you get to that level.)

its glamour and not idended to give you anything. You can get the folklore stuff with full 170 anyway. And yes you need 1 folklore item.

If they gave it lvl 1 stats, which would be okay anyway, people would just start 100 threads and complain about the stats. So they are as good as the best obtainable stuff and not purely useless, except for glamour purposes..

Normally, I'd agree with you on achievement items being glamour. However, the blessed tools have the same stats as augmented red scrip tools. So they can be viewed as an alternative to scrip farming. Second only to ironworks tools.

That being said, they are "intended" to get you up to that next tier; to be able to gather the three star items. Just as the augmented red scrips tools are intended to do the same. Both are an alternative to the ironworks/melding process, considering you can get those items without the ironworks tool. What you can't do, is get them with a tool lower than the blessed/scrips tool.

The pickaxe can be obtained without the 3 star items. So my question is why is botanist required to do so? Doesn't seem like this was intended to me.
