Is DPS'ing as a Healer Vote Kickable?

I'd be glad to be kicked from a party with a massively lazy player and others who actively encourage laziness and mediocrity. No 30 minute lockout and can go straight back in. I don't expect amazing DPS from healers, just some effort. Up until 3 or 4 months ago I never kicked someone for their performance, but then you watch as people auto-attack and stand in every aoe and you realise that by doing nothing you are encouraging laziness.

Honestly, I'd be glad to be kicked from a party with those players. I never say anything, but if that kick option comes up and it's because of the lack of ANY dps (the worst are those who spam their space bar), then I'm clicking yes. Even more so since I've seen these threads and the encouragement by people to play lazily in a group.

But again, actually on-topic to the OP: Yes, people can kick for that. If the team agrees... then you're gone. It's a difference in play style and the team doesn't want to play like that.

Just out of curiosity, how, precisely, would anyone be able to discern a complete stranger's "really trying, but just isn't very capable" or disabilities? What would be acceptable "some other such factor"?

If I see a healer who doesn't DPS at all (after some time, I've noticed some start without any DPS and then change to cleric after a few pulls when they've seen it's safe), I simply talk to them. In dungeons, I say something like "Hey [healer], when the tank or anyone else isn't taking much damage, could you please put some DoTs up / use some Holys / Gravity?" If the answer is "lol no I'm just here to heal" (direct quote), then they're obviously not trying and they have no excuse for it. If they say something like "sorry I'm really new to this and not comfortable", that's fine to me. If they try even a bit after being encouraged to do so, thumbs up.

Better not get in a group with me then. I am there not heal and keep people alive not dps. I do not dps on my healers, if I want to dps then I will go on a dps job.

There is no requirement to dps as a healer, our job is to keep everyone alive so they can do their job.

Enjoy having a whopping 6-10 casts per minute in combat then, while everyone else is actually pressing buttons.

The DD's should learn how to dps before ask a healer to do their job.

The offtanks role is to dps, because if they don't, the party will hit enrage and wipe. Unless the healers are dpsing, in which case the off tank is actually just a fifth red dps.

You should actually read the thread before commenting, but I will help you out a bit...

a) Most have said that it does *not* warrant a kicking but will cause the others in the group to look askance at the refuses-to-dps healer.
b) A lot of the comments, my own included, are not from the dps who need to "learn their jobs" but rather from other healers.

Why would DPS'ing as a healer warrant being kicked from the party? I mean as long as they aren't letting other players die while they are dps'ing I see no problem with it. As a WHM main it drives me crazy when I'm playing MNK and the healer just stands there over healing the group or just in general standing around. It doesn't take long to cast off an aero III or swiftcast a holy. I mean, if the healer is undergeared and struggling, I don't expect much DPS out of them. If that make sense.

This Debate is a big one and is on going, on one side ppl say healers should dps, the other they shouldnt. unfortunately one side likes to attack the other *cough "heals should dps" side*

If you are a healer and you're not dpsing, you are ignoring a good majority of your abilities, you're also standing around with more than enough time to do the manderville dance, and maybe a most gentlemanly pose before someone might need healing. Why do you think they gave WHM Aero, Aero II, Aero III, Stone, Stone II, Stone III, Fluid Aura, Holy and Assize? so you can put them on your bar and never use them? You're just lazy if you say healers shouldn't dps, you enjoy all that afk time while healing things, also enjoy your slower everything.

I'm a main WHM who loves dps / spam holy in duty and, of course, healing properly the tank/team if needed.

That said, i don't care if another healer wants to just heal or do both; heal and dps. It's not really this kind of healer who bothering me. tho, Since a few months, i'm really tired to see so many healers incapable to do their MAIN ROLE. I'm so f***ing tired to see'em in cleric stance, just leting their team die without taking care about, to see that resurection isn't bind to their bar and so is swifcast. I hugely PREFER when a healer just heal normally so we can end the duty than a healer who just want to dps for complete it faster but fails at healing which inscreses the time to complete the duty. It really pissed me off but nethertheless, what gives me the right to kick people because they dont play like i would like ? We are not in RF/PF or Progress but in DF.

And just for these people saying healers are eligible to kick if they don't dps i'll answer : So is the tank taking just 2 enemies at times or losing the aggro of one enemy (insta kick if i take one hit, i mean, how dare he let me take one hit ?? I'm not the tank budy) , so is the dps doing mono target spell when their is a pack of 10 enemies and vice versa. (how dare he do 2k dps when I saw a guy doing 2x better his dps in a speedrun video on youtube ??? WE WASTE OUR TIME LEARN YOUR JOB SCRUB)

With this kind of behavior, when we can force others to do what we want to and this not to just complete a duty but to complete it FASTER threatening people by a kickvote, it's trully disgusting, and so will be the community and the game later on
