Can we get a Public API on the Lodestone?

I'm one of the people who works on my Free Companies website, which is hosted by Squarespace. One thing that has irritated me a lot is that I cannot pull any information from the Lodestone onto our website.

I know there are "scrapers" that can pull the data and put it wherever you want, but I really don't think it's necessary to go through that mess. It's a really big waste of time and can lead to headaches for people like me who don't know too much about how to use them.

One thing that I believe has been discussed before has been an actual open for public use API like World of Warcraft where we can pull data from the servers and make some pretty awesome things with it. I'm assuming there is some sort of API, since sites hosted on Enjin seem to have no trouble pulling the data.

I too would like a public API to allow us to pull character and FC data and optionally send posts to the FC forum so we can integrate what's available into our sites.

I know something like this probably exists already because the site Enjin is able to pull a lot of data.
Of course, there could be a scraper in use there too. But that's just a theory.

One thing I've been thinking about recently is the uses that people could have for a public API to pull info from the Lodestone:

- I was asked recently if there was a way to pull the news from the Lodestone into different locations: Discord, website, etc.
- We could build ways to show on our websites if a particular member that we want people to contact for something is online in game.
- We could show off rosters of people in our Free Companies, rather than having to list people and update every time something changes/put a button with a link

And the list goes on and on. These are just a few of the things that could be done. I know there are a lot of websites and such that get their data from Lodestone, although how I do not know.
