I have this "Healer Curse" when every single game i played, my guild / community asked me to be healer. rofl.

Curse aside, My passion with healer run deep in my vein, although i prefer to call it Support Calling rather than healer. I played as healer paladin, healer monk, and buffer most of the times

What i love from healing ?
That single decisive moment between life and death of party decided by your expertise for your own ability in healing.

+ Knowing what you can do and what you can't do
+ Believing in your party member ( even though you know people can and will do dumb stuff which ask for you to cover it )
+ Do your job well while no one ever will thank you for it ( happens every time )
+ Become the tactician of the team, calling out what i saw in the battlefield

    - Hate the part when i got shouted when people die ( by no mean i'm a super good healer, i'm just a human too ).

I've always been the person to roll the jack-of-all-trades job so I can be fluid and adapt to my party's needs as required. This is probably why I gravitated towards SCH right off the bat. This was my first game that I went as a dedicated healing class (noramlly a dps) but they had the heals, they had the dps, they had the shields, the job was down right sexy to me.
I love playing it and still do despite the 4.0 changes - took me a moment to readjust and it has lost some of its fun in the dps area but that is alright i suppose. I make up for it in pvp~

The only thing that could've made the job even more sexy to me is give it a skill that works like a trap where you need to strategically place it and etc. etc. - but i realize that is too silly a concept to actually work its just something i'd enjoy, i dont actully want such a thing.
BUT if they were to give it to an AST we could yell "YOU'VE ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD!!!" 8D

I like playing support classes in everything, because they're awesome by making everyone else more awesome. Healers are the most obvious support classes in this game. Plus I got to have awesome moments like saving a Ravana DF roulette from wiping by using LB3, grabbing that guy in Doma Castle who is standing in the comet and about to die with Rescue and yanking him to safety... and Holy spam. Who doesn't love Holy spam?

Plus, I tend to find DPS gets repetitive when you're following a set rotation and there isn't suddenly someone standing in a cleave to mix it up.

I don't think I love healing, so much as I love White Mage. I leveled other healing classes and I'm just not enjoying them. That said, it's entirely different play style then when I DPS or tank, and it's nice being useful without being the leader.

It's very engaging, I love the specific type of micro-managing it requires, the spell effects are often the most beautiful, they often get the most beautiful gear in a lot of games. I like how it feels like a dance, and how you get into a certain kind of rhythm.
And that extreme satisfaction in timing an heal just right and watching everyone's health shoot up the instant it goes down. b l i s s

I love playing healer because it is the only job (especially in FF14) in which the player has to adapt to situations. Being able to use their abilities in a situational sense is a key to being a good healer. I feel that most healers are really just DPS players in disguise (even if they "don't play DPS classes"), because they put the party's DPS before the safety and protection of the party (e.g. they use their cooldowns whenever they're off cooldown because it increases DPS, then the party wipes because the healer didn't have a cooldown up when they actually needed it to save the party). Unfortunately, the healer jobs are not particularly well-designed in this regard either, and seem to get worse with every change. More DPS or direct healing potency spells do nothing to enhance the healer experience. What we need are spells that healers can adapt and use creatively to deal with the situations that are thrown at them, with appropriate cooldowns, and ways that the healers can manipulate those cooldowns. Healing is like solving puzzles in real time. You are constantly adapting to situations, and it is your responsibility to make sure that no matter what, you not only solve the puzzle in the most effective way possible, but also have the tools at your disposal to solve the puzzles as they are thrown at you. And in order to do this, the player needs absolute control over their class mechanics. The age of RNG healing mechanics needs to come to an end (there's nothing wrong with RNG on healer spells that are not healer-related though (i.e., bonuses for supporting the party like AST cards)). No healer should ever rely on crits to keep their party alive. Likewise, no healing class should ever rely on RNG to function properly as a healer (i.e. SCH, WHM).

This was more of an opinion piece than a reason, I suppose. But it's all relevant.

Sorry to rain on your parade Nocturnia but, though it may be more common with healers, ALL roles have instances where they need to adjust and adapt. Also, healers do not need more tools to help them adapt... all fights are scripted and if people cause the poop to hit the fan it csn be pretty easy to fix with what we have. There may be situations that can't be saved, but if healers could save them no one would learn to play better because "the healer can save us".

And just wondering... what RNG do WHM's have now that aren't just using on a cake? I'm talking Free Cure and such.

Absolutely. There really should be a term for this particular form of satisfaction.

Does the RNG of Benediction landing count?
