How many pings you're getting in Australia?

When I was in Singapore, I got around 200ms (playing on a NA data center).

I'm going to visit my mom in Australia soon and I'm gonna play a little from there.

I don't think they need to setup an AU data center though. Just add a new server to the JP data center and make it an Eastern English data center. It's not only for AU and NZ, people from HK, SG, and other East Asian countries might need it.

I'm in regional Aus and its around 450-500, and nothing short of selling up and moving will ever change that. Some have said they get 350-400 from around Sydney.
I've yet to hear what sort numbers people are getting on Tonberry from different regions in Aus.

Wow... it's that bad? Is it something wrong with the internet there or the route to Canada that is the problem? I mean Singapore is even further from the NA server than AU and I got 200ms. Even when I went to Thailand, I got 260ms.

My ping to the server is usually about 500ms+, thus my desire for Australian server/s.

They should move Tonberry and the other servers in that group to Australia (hey, I can dream!)

Better throw in a few drop bears and some native snakes, spiders, lizards, etc. - just for that extra bit of persuasion

Internet.. make things worse they cheaped out doing the big nbn country wide upgrade aswell.. if invested more money into it would of been better for every1 but we know how governments work xD

I find little issue playing from Australia on tonberry. Most of my FC is AUS and they can clear A12S so I don't see a big problem.

Honestly I doubt I would switch even if they did do it. Sure Blizzard has Oceanic servers but it also has a vastly bigger playerbase. I am not convinced FF14's Oceanic population is sufficient to make it an issue and the ping isn't high enough problems to bother me.

Considering how long it took them to introduce EU servers and the fact they are currently spending a lot of money on existing server upgrades I wouldn't imagine we would see Oceanic servers any time soon anyway even if they did consider it.

As long as the subscription revenue of all AU/NZ players is less than the cost of building and running another datacenter, it'd be a bad business move. Simple as that.

As a player from New Zealand getting 270 without a tunnel, yea the latency is a pain, even more in pvp.

But this game isn't Wow and the Aus/NZ region doesn't have the same player base as Wow to justify an oceanic server. It would be dead on arrival most likely, as all wow had to do was move existing servers to oceanic.

As for saying 300-400 latency is irrelevant, try doing something like titan and not getting knocked off.
