Dungeon loot etiquette for Anima weapon grind.

So, in dungeons I will try to get loot to turn in for grand company seals so I can get those items for my Anima weapon quest. But I'm wondering if it's ok to roll need on said loot. Technically I DO need it for my Anima quest, but it still seems rude to roll need on items that aren't of my job and is a lower ilvl than what I'm equipped with. Not sure, so, is it rude for me to roll need on dungeon loot for this reason?

You're going to get very mixed responses on this. My 2 gil: Roll for anything you can. You aren't the first and you won't be the last to roll need on something you aren't going to equip.

I have only seen a rare handful of circumstances where someone actually got upset over such a thing, especially in the content I assume you're doing.. EXR.. 4-mans etc right?

And if you do happen to run into someone that does get upset over it, chances are they're dealing with some shit outside the game and it's not about you or the loot, rather just looking for an excuse to throw a fit.

Worst case scenario, apologize and roll greed for the rest of the run.

In my experience here, the accepted standard is "If you can roll Need, nobody will get mad that you did".

So I came back to the game a few months ago and I spent the longest time trying to figure out why people were doing that. I'd be trying to roll on gear that would help one of my other jobs and some healer with 25k hp would be rolling need on an i225 piece.

Personally I do think it's rude to do that. Rolling Need on an item should mean that it's an upgrade for your current job. If it's not an upgrade, you roll Greed and everybody has an equal shot at it. Everyone needs company seals. Some people want/need to gear up other jobs.

Your need is just as legit as everyone elses - roll need if you can.
I wouldnt even consider that rude - first off dungeon gear isnt really used anyways, during the leveling process maybe, but since there are no ilvl-requirements on leveling dungeons its not as if you were locking anyone out of content if you "steal" a piece of gear and there are enough other options to get gear. Second if someone wanted that piece of gear and you can roll need, but they cant - to bad for them, should have come as the classes it was meant for. Here is were I make two exepctions though: if you're a dps and your fellow dps-mate could use it as an upgrade, leave it to him. If someone asked for that piece because they want to glamour it, leave it to them. Other than that: Want a piece of gear, come as the class you want it for, roll need, walk away happy.

(Or roll need on an item that you need to get GC-seals or boost your desynth-skill, walk away happy)

I roll for what I need. I need gear to turn into points for chocobo respecs. There is no easy to to get that many seals.

Wait, do you mean the peppers that cost 48000 gc seals yet only cost 20 allied seals? lol...you should definitely not be buying those with company seals. You're welcome.
