I duo battle leves often. They have their good points, but there is certainly room for improvement.

I've always thought the defensive leves had untapped potential. The faster you kill the mobs, the faster they should come at you. Maybe add in random mini-boss mobs that lead to special rewards if you defeat them. The more mobs you kill in your allotted defense time, the more chances you have to encounter the mini-boss.

Or have something real to defend. Like some NPCs.

Golden Leves - After completing a certain amount of leves in one day/Randomly Generated, player is rewarded with a golden leve. Golden leve gives a large gil/xp/item bonus.
The leve evaluation bonus is nice and all, but pretty weak. Whether it is special leves or special rewards, should be something more interesting as a bonus.

Faction leve rewards should be overhauled to make them more attractive since the faction credits are one of the rewards for completing leves.

I think it would be nice to have special "Golden Leves" available for completing a chain of regular leves. Say you complete all of the rank 40 Necrologos leves from all three cities. Then you should be eligible for a special Necrologos leve that ends with a summoned NM. Or at least a signed copy of the Necrologos for your coffee table.

Dungeon Leves with variable rewards (EG Kill Ifrit within 12 minutes Reward = A Reward, Kill Ifrit Within 13 minutes - Reward = B)
The Ifrit quest utilized existing NMs and gave you a reason to travel across the three regions and hunt them. You could do something similar with guild leves. Leves that task you with hunting various NMs for additional rewards (or a better chance at their prized drops). Leves that reward you for optional dungeon objectives, like collecting wolf hides from the Natalan stronghold or beating Ifrit on Archer. Special leve rewards can be a nice way to repurpose underutilized content.

I like this idea for quest chains. Start at one camp and then travel around the map some, continuing your quest at the satellite camps or hamlets. One thing I do like about the current battle leve system is that it gets you out to different camps to see the world.
