Only thing I found fault with was the assumption that there will be any flying in the game. While I know as much as you do about it, I think the Ahriman mount (if it even gets implemented) was meant more to hover more so than fly. You'd still be on the same plane as a ground mount. I guess this would be a good question for Yoshi-P if he feels that we should have the ability to fly on our own in the future. There would have to be significant content designed around it for it to be put in the game in my opinion.

Offtopic: I personally would prefer if flying wasn't implemented. Any MMORPG i've played where you can fly, you just shortcut everything, Skipping almost all content along the way.

Ontop: So, nobody has any more ideas?

Well, you already gave a lot of great ideas in your post, so all I can really say is that I wholeheartedly agree. Leves are the lifeblood for me and a couple of my friends since we mostly solo/duo/three-man content. The effort to reward/time spent ratio should be proportional depending on the leve (the "defense" ones definitely - those are stupid). There should be a greater variety of mobs, and perhaps small minibosses (not NMs, I'm tired of people calling end-of-raid/quest mobs instanced NMs) we can fight at the finishing (or even middle!) of the leve.

Other things they can do is make a leve that has ALL of the goals from several leves combined. For example, make a leve that lets you start off the leve with a defense mission that lasts 5 minutes, then transition to a "second phase" where you have to do a necrologos-style discovery mission and then top it off with a simple "hunt this target down" mission that ends with a small miniboss for you to fight at the end.

Actually... why DON'T they do that? That would be mad fun to play. Tons of variety in just one leve.

The big thing I would love to see brought to leves is a little more variety along with a dash of strategy. Embracing the TMTOWTDI mentality wouldn't hurt either. (There's More Than One Way To Do It.)

I like the sound of chocobo racing, having speed runs, and maybe even making deliveries between camps. (Watch out! If you get hit, you might break/drop whatever you're carrying...)
    • Smuggling items from city to city via airship? (Blatantly taken from FFXIV but wait... there's more!) If you happen to get pulled aside for acting suspiciously, you get to parley yourself out of it. And since this is a wishlist of wants, let's make parley more interesting, a heck of a lot more responsive and just all around more engaging. (This is more of a repeated quest than a leve quest, but I'm going to leave it here.)

    • Guardian leves - Your guardian has tasks that need to get done. She is sending you on a mission... for Her.

    • Field Testing - A researcher, Ima Tuscared, has come up with this great item, but desperately needs it tested out in the field first. What you need to do can vary each time, especially depending what the item is.
      For example:
If the item is a weapon, you need to do a certain amount of damage, or perform a certain number of weaponskills before returning.
If the item is armor, you need to take a certain amount of damage or get hit with a certain number of weaponskills before returning.
    • Fishing Fatalities - Similar to the Necrologos leves. Attacks on local fisherman are on the rise, you need to head to the closest fishing spot and place bait at the various ??? points to draw out the creatures and make the waters safe once again. Same thing could work for Mining and Botany nodes locations, Mining Mishaps and Harrowing Harvests.

Nice suggestions. I liked all of them.

My opinion is leves are nothing more than a poor knock off of the quest system found in WoW and other mmos.
When you can grind the same exp or more by simply solo grinding, there really is no need for it.
The reward of gil is also a joke as you can easily farm mats to sell while grinding and make a much better profit, and not have 50 random items that don't stack.

I hope to see the leve system completely replaced in 2.0 with something that is actually fun and rewarding.

Your points are all valid and i agree, except for replacing the leve system. I think it could be salvaged / improved rather than removed from the game.
