This I definitely agree with and have said the same ever since 1.0. trying to do mog or garuda and finding it impossible because there's only 6-7 of you and after hours of shouting and not being able to find an 8th you eventually give up....

need to be a lot more flexibility in group sizes

Last time I checked people are watching the game on twitch/youtube instead of playing it by themselves. Maybe that's the reason you can't find someone to socialize with?

I disagree.

If you want to socialize with people, you do it yourself. Don't wait for others to come and talk to you.

Be active in your FC/LS. If you are doing daily roulettes ask if anyone wants to join you.
If you want to train or farm something speak/yell/shout. People will respond to you.

You'll eventually find a group of people always interacting with you.
I made friends though PF doing maps. It is that simple.

This game was designed to do things as a group. The only time you do things solo is some quests in MSQ.

Thiiiiisss. I've made so many friends just /telling people how much I liked their glamour or emoting the dance of my people and just, ya know- talking. And this is across PC, PS3 and PS4 users alike.

There are quite a few more players than there are streamers and youtubers. SOMEBODY must be playing the game.

Put in the time to find a good Free Company. A good FC is everything, just like a good LS was everything in XI.

Have you seen what happens without moderation in large channels? It will be an endless stream of ASCII art and toxic screaming, entirely useless for actual conversations. Of course, the report feature is a form of moderation... just a slow one, but that might work well enough since people have a lot invested in their characters and subscriptions where risking a ban is usually not worth it. The novice network is moderated by mentors, which has worked well to handle the 100+ people in the channel.... well enough to stamp down on the random ASCII spam waves at least. Used properly, moderation facilitates communication, rather than obstructing it!

Without moderation think, can't believe that I'm going to bring this up, Barrens Chat in WoW.

Join an active FC. Compliment someone on their glamour, ask a question in chat, etc. Hell, I made a friend first day because we both had names from Warhammer.
It's not hard, but it requires you do something about it.
If you're on PS4, spend $20 and get a Bluetooth keyboard.

It sought thru mechanics to empower the solo gamer and in the process precluded them of ever making a real friend.

If this game really wanted to empower the solo gamer then there would be solo content. You are required to party for everything except crafting/gathering(unless in Diadem). I would love some actual fun solo(rewarding solo) content in this game. Soloing PoTD is not my idea of fun, rewarding solo content either. That place you grind as a party to get the highest weapon and then you run it solo, you cannot solo that place with a level 1 weapon(people please stop saying this is solo...)
