Last time I checked people are watching the game on twitch/youtube instead of playing it by themselves. Maybe that's the reason you can't find someone to socialize with?

There are quite a few more players than there are streamers and youtubers. SOMEBODY must be playing the game.

Put in the time to find a good Free Company. A good FC is everything, just like a good LS was everything in XI.

Join an active FC. Compliment someone on their glamour, ask a question in chat, etc. Hell, I made a friend first day because we both had names from Warhammer.
It's not hard, but it requires you do something about it.
If you're on PS4, spend $20 and get a Bluetooth keyboard.

It sought thru mechanics to empower the solo gamer and in the process precluded them of ever making a real friend.

If this game really wanted to empower the solo gamer then there would be solo content. You are required to party for everything except crafting/gathering(unless in Diadem). I would love some actual fun solo(rewarding solo) content in this game. Soloing PoTD is not my idea of fun, rewarding solo content either. That place you grind as a party to get the highest weapon and then you run it solo, you cannot solo that place with a level 1 weapon(people please stop saying this is solo...)

I'm sorry but I don't see how my being on ps4 makes a difference to wether people are social or not.

Just from my experience, console players are less invested and quick to jump to the hot new title that hit the shelves. They just play so many different games. The PC players that I know play less games overall and are far more commited to the mmo(s) they play.

Then there are those who play PC and console games. Man, I wish I had that kind of time.

Those console players you know probably like 1 or 2 so of course that means we're all like that.

I'm sure there are people like this on all platforms. It still doesn't mean they are less social when they are actually playing.
Also I would add that this is coming from a person who in real life struggles with shyness yet in this game all I seem to do is chat lol Really op if I can make friends here you can too.
