Diadem Trials of the Fury is Disappointing - Here's Why...

I'm not talking about the actual weapon part. Yoshi's right - people need to calm down about that. I'm talking about the Trials of the Fury itself.

    The issue:
After people do the 3 objectives - many leave or go on to gather because there is nothing else to do save for when an Emergency Mission pops.

    What should have happened instead:
Tiered mission objectives that increase in scale/difficulty with improved rewards for successfully completing each one.

    The issue:
Mindless. Fate. Grinding. Fates are not fun - mostly because they:
    A) Have no impact on the world (not meaningful to the player) and
    B) Are almost all identical and repetitive.

    What should have happened instead:
If you're going to have fates, make them worth doing. But see the first item - mission objectives that are meaningful and not tiresome.

    The issue:
When an emergency mission pops, no one knows what to do. OR if they do know, they just troll the group and rush in - killing everyone. The Emergency Mission is far too punishing to a group because once the main boss is free, it's over and you can't salvage the run.

    What should have happened instead:
I don't mind figuring out mechanics - but to punish the group for the actions of one or a few is just bad game design. Everyone ends up leaving the Emergency Mission after because it can't be saved - completely losing the incentive to work together.

P.S. That elemental tiger is gorgeous and should be a mount!

While not ideal, an implementation change to stop the afking as a whole group, is to simply have fate completions have a perfect entry chance to trigger the EM.

Long term. This says a lot about SE's game. Your players when enterprise your new dungeon are given the choice of participating in combat, and you know playing the game, or doing nothing and being bored. Choose to be bored. You really designed a winner there. No wonder this game failed once before.

I agree with all this, plus SE needs to offer better rewards, most of the rewards are old for what is basically diadem 2.0, and I am not sure if these fates gives experience or not but if they do not they should.

I completely agree with the OP when it comes to emergency events. The events are way too punishing to do with PUG groups because either no one knows what to do or as the OP stated people just jump right in and screw everyone.

And the brass spoils! I forgot to mention the spoils! I got the Pegasus when diadem 1.0 came out (when brass spoils were harder to get) but now they practically hand them out to you like candy! If you didn't get the mount back then, you can get it now even easier - which I have no problem with at all. But after that - then what?

With the exception of the colt minion, what else is there to buy that can't already be bought with gardening items, or lore tomes? I understand letting us have another method of getting these items, which is fine. But there are very few crafting recipes that use them - and some things (like dino leather shoes, wind silk coatee and such) drop so frequently from POTD they're not worth making anyway.

If people want to fate grind, let 'em. In my mind the real problem is that people NEED to stick around and wait for the emergency mission to pop, and... well... people don't. In my attempt, we had probably HALF our group leave, and the emergency mission spawned with like 5 minutes left on the duty timer. We tried, but with like.... 20 people total, and my party at 3 DPS one healer, there was no way.

Suggestion: Emergency mission ONLY has a chance of spawning within five minutes after mission objectives are complete. This is a reasonable amount of time to expect people to wait, not this "extra half hour of grinding uselessly" bollocks we have right now.

I think the philosophy here is they want people to stay and assumed making it take time for the Emergency Mission to spawn would convince players to hang around. Unfortunately, the devs continue to misinterpret they sheer disdain a lot of people have towards FATEs. They need to offering something dynamic, be it FATEs that require defending a stronghold (like Siege like mechanics from other MMOs) or mini bosses in the vein of Proto Ultima (i.e. they have mechanics). If they just make EM spawn faster or kick AFKers, people will either still leave early or won't queue at all. Allowing you to replace people who leave though, would be a good start.

Or when people queue as tank or healer for faster queues then swap to dps as soon as they are in diadem...and there's nothing you can do about it...

Why even bother requiring roles at queue, just let it fill like Frontlines or PotD. Trolololol

I don't think *anybody* *wants* to FATE grind. Also I don't believe fates have anything to do with whether or not an EM spawns. I believe it's totally random.

Diadem 2.0 is just so poorly, poorly done. And while I understand they're working on Stormblood feverishly, they've had over a year to get this right, and it really seems half-baked. Like it started out grand, and by the end they were like "let's just pepper in fates and call it a day".
