    Choosing Graphics Card

I'm buying a refurbished gaming PC without a dedicated graphics and need to choose a graphics card. I want to spend about 250 bucks at most. What card will play this game at high settings and frame rate? I don't play any other PC games. Is it possible to play on integrated graphics in the meantime?

AMD RX 480, best value right now if you don't wanna deal with 2nd hand GPUs. Just make sure your Motherboard isn't a complete potato with the PCIe slot and make sure you get a model that has a 6 pin aux power input.

    e.g. https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...-rx-480-rs-4gb
edit: this is in AUD so chances are its much cheaper for you in the US.

Otherwise, the RX 470 is solid if a bit slower.

I'm running a Geforce 960 that runs on custom-high settings (high settings with a few things buffed to max) at 1440p at about 45-50 frames.

Wouldn't specifically recommend this card because I am sure there are other options. I had to buy my card in a hurry (as my last GPU got fried.. Long story) so didn't have much time to research it.

Paid $250 AUD for it about 12-18 months ago, so about $190 USD, though it would likely be even cheaper than that if you're in the states, plus the card isn't the newest thing out there..

Hope this at least gives you a ballpark.

At that price point, I'd reckon the GTX1060 would hit the sweet spot.

This! Go GTX 1060. It's just the better card. Make sure you get the 6gb version of the 1060, which should be $240-280 depending on which brand stamps their label on it and if they overclock it for you. I just upgraded to 1060 myself and couldn't be happier. I'm sure RX 480 isn't a bad choice. Both are overkill for FFXIV.

I got this one for ~$260. It's slightly overclocked. I don't know if it's worth it or not. If you know how to do that stuff, you can probably do it yourself and save $20.

If you can actually find a GTX 1060 at the MSRP. You might be able to get a 3 GB for under that, but the 6 GB versions have been hovering around $280-$300.

For $250 or so, like someone said, you can probably pull a RX 480 8 GB model, though some people will say get the 4 GB version, since the performance increase between the two is negligible.

Personally, I would grab the 8 GB, but you haven't mentioned what your CPU situation looks like, either.

    A quick glance on PCpartpicker...

There's about 7 that are at or under MSRP

I stand corrected. Usually, Nvidia errs on the high side of the range. I personally have been on the fence between the two, and if the 1060's stay around that price, I might have to pick one up.

960 cannot maximize the settings on 1080p but its price is reasonable.

Try 980 or the 1000 series if you have a bit more budget.

    No AMD though. It sucks.
