Suddenly my controller has random unresponsive moments?

    Greetings all,

Since the release of patch 3.5 I'm experiencing some difficulties while playing using my gamepad. ( A Madcatz CoD MW2 Gamepad xbox360 wired controller )

Up until 3.5, I never had any issues with my controller, but now my issue is sending me on a information journey across the net, but until now, to no prevail

The current issue is that my controller decides to randomly keep generating a input command, As if I'm continuously walking towards a certain direction, or my camera decides to keep turning, as if the last button pressed before the break in response is continuously being pressed.

As you can imagine, Uncontrollable walking is not favorable on such duties such as titan or where there's heavy AOE dodging

I've been searching the net and the forums, and Tried the solutions that were brought up there. but simply, none of them helped.

    The following things I've tried so far. (and didn't succeed);
    • Unplugged the Controller from it's USB ports (and tried all available slots)
    • Plugged the controller in a extra AC powered USB port.
    • Tried a different wired controller, and yet the issue stays at hand.
    • Tried to Calibrate the Gamepad trough Device management AND used the Ingame's Controller Calibration.
    • Updated the Drivers (both Video and the Gamepad's)
    • Uninstalled and Reinstalled the Gamepad's software.
    • Used the Right-click > Troubleshoot option (in device management), this brought an issue to the attention that has been resolved automatically.
    • Tried to play a Different Game with the gamepad for extended duration of time, but no issues arose within those games.

As of now, I'm at a loss, I have no idea what I can do to resolve this issue as this issue seems to arise only in FFXIV, And I'd Really like to call upon the Technological Geniuses of this game to hopefully present me a working solution

    Many great thanks in advance,
    An atechnical person. ^^"

It's been a few days since, until now I've not yet found a working solution.
Is there anyone who has any clue on where I'd have to search for solutions?

Have you adjusted the sensitivity of the controller? I don't use your kit but I know that I had to adjust mine as I wasn't getting the full range of movement but also experiencing the problem you had.

Here's some other things you could check:

Are any other wires or electrical equipment near your controller cable? This can cause a lot issues like yours.

Your USB controller may be on the frizz, this is usually built in to the motherboard so can affect any USB port. The only way to bypass it is to use a PCI USB card.

From what you've tried it looks like a FFXIV specific issue (aren't they all >_>) & you should try the in game calibration again, including the sensitivity setting (I can't recall the exact term). Good luck!

I've tried adjusting the sensitivity of the controller, only to discover it was still unresponsive

Ofcourse; Everyone's hardware is different so it's hard to pinpoint the issue just by that.

The only electrical cable in direct touch with the gamepad is the wire of my Logitech G11 Keyboard.
My monitors are both without a standard and all it's cables are put away in the arms of my monitor stand (Where my controller is plugged in with extra AC power)

I'll look into the issue of the PCI usb card once I get the change to do so,
this is something I sadly can't check right now.
However; Since this desktop was a hand-me-down (which was, in all aspects better than my previous laptop) I did get the information the bottleneck of the Desktop was it's motherboard. (Dualcore) ((it seems, prehistoric stuff))

I don't want to point fingers, not at all, never was and never will be my intention.
I'll try recallibrating again, I'll hope others will attempt to have a look at this too, but thank you for pointing me in a direction of a possible solution!

I had something similar. Bought a new steel series controller and don't seem to have any issues...Bar getting used to different setup.

While it certainly came to mind to use a different controller, It didn't seem to do the trick for me (or it must be the new kind of wired controller uses more windows 10 related software) since I've used 2 different kinds of wired controllers.
But I guess I'll try to invest in a new controller sometime soon then, However, I just think it's strange in general (since the controller didn't have any issues prior to update 3.5, and the controller works perfectly fine on all other games i'm playing)

Not sure if it would matter or not, but the new controller I got was wireless.

I am having this issue too (and works in other games as well fine) but could you do me a favor to confirm something I been thinking.

Can you keep Computer Management > Devices open and when it becomes unresponsive, have a quick look to see if the controller disconnected and reconnected (it should refresh the device section).

PC master race, huh? Get a PS4!

All kidding aside, I found an old forum thread that might help you get closer to finding a solution. Scroll down to the final post in this thread:
