Do you have a citation for that? I haven't seen any specific information about what Boost mode is doing, much of the anecdotal evidence suggests a bit more GPU oomph than simply a 100 MHz clock bump.Boost mode is not perfect, boost mode is using stock clocks for GPU (+100mhz) and CPU (+500mhz) that is the cause of boost performance on games, but they are disabling the half CU of GPU yet. If Square would patch this, the game would run pretty better than boost mode.
On boost mode PS4 Pro is around 2,1 TFLOPS. A patched game PS4 Pro is a 4,2 TFLOPS machine.
Speaking from the perspective of a player who interacts with PS4 and PC players, how about: no, how about not disrupting my play community because some people inaccurately view console players as second class citizens. Fact of the matter is you can plug a keyboard into a PS4 as easily as a PC and the PS4 hardware well exceeds the minimum PC requirements needed for the game. At is stands now the minimum PC requirements will do more to hold back the game than PS4.I know this'll cause frictions but I wonder when they'll drop full console support or at least put them on seperate servers from PC as I feel it's not only affecting the games ability to progress performance wise but the community is seeming to be getting worse due to none typers its becoming wow with better graphics and I feel the consoles add a barrier between players and communication.
The stock hard drive in a PS4 is a terrible piece of garbage. It's actually one of the biggest limitations in the system. You can get a fair increase in loading speeds by upgrading to a hybrid drive. I'd recommend against going straight SSD because it's hard to find info on whether the PS4 supports TRIM or not.
I'll second this. I have a PS4 Pro with a SSD and zoning only takes a few seconds. The stock hard drive in a PS4 is a terrible piece of garbage. or put in a SSHD 1TB cheap as, the more you play less load time it get DigitalFoundry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hftHjOvcUtcThe stock hard drive in a PS4 is a terrible piece of garbage. Yea all Sony betas in there agreements state that the features that are not made public are ment to be tested and given any bug reports while keeping to a NDA but becuse people leak the images with the name and icon blurred it makes it impossible to say who leaked the images. When features aren't mentioned it usually means they are in last stages of testing and the public "boost mode" may be different to the beta's boost mode
hi
Before I forget it, here's another topic recently started, sharing the name. Just in case
To all PS4 PRO (edited!) players, I have a few questions:
1) Can you switch on/off the boost mode while XIV is running? It would help comparing its efficiencity vs normal mode.
2) In heavy populated areas - IDYLLSHIRE! - does your framerate fall much? And vs Normal Mode?
3) In heavy populated areas - IDYLLSHIRE! - is your framerate any good? ie. is XIV running smoothly or is your framerate seemingly below 40-50fps.
This could be a solution but, without any official "framerate option" for PS4s, it could also be only a momentary improvement, since XIV might be more and more demanding later - SB i see you!
Please! Look at those topics!

I have not yet tried boost mode as i did not think of it, lol
I too am curious how it works in say Idylshire for example
Maybe I just have crappy eyes but the game runs fine for me even in IDYLLSHIRE on regular PS4.

Yes but load times are a bit slow
